February 19, 200719 yr Ok seems as if now you are conceding the fact that he is good enough right? He may be. OTS seems to miss more than he hits. I'll take the history of recruiting under OTS and not get excited over this.
February 19, 200719 yr Just a guess, but he'll come to KY and underachieve, transfer, or be as good as a freshman as he's ever going to get. You've already quantified his commitment, as being a "joke". So I presume, he can only get much better. I've personally never seen him play, so I won't comment on his ability. I hope he can rebound, play with his back to the basket and be versatile enough, to shoot the mid-range jumper, plus defend.
February 19, 200719 yr This is why Kentucky basketball is where it is today. Unless he turns out to be a Chuck Hayes, it's worthless.. Does anyone know what Chuck was rated coming out of high school? I can check here in a second, but the rating at this time means very little. For all we know he could be a ***** recruit here in the next few months... conersely, he could fall off the map

The odds of him being Chuck Hayes like is not so good. He doesn't score many points. He rebounds. Signing a rebounder early at KY IMO is a Joke. Sign some talent. Not top 150, top 25. Then play to your strengths. Don't run an offense just because it's the one you've always ran. I hope he's the next Charles Barkley, but I don't think getting our papers organized in our recruiting file dictates that.
February 19, 200719 yr How can you say a player you'd probably never heard of til 4:00 today is a joke? He might not be great, but that's a huge assumption to make when you haven't researched him or seen him play.

February 19, 200719 yr 25 a game is not many????? All I found was a few box scores from this season. 2 from February. He didn't crack 20 in those 3 games.

Apparantly within the last few weeks he has told people that Michigan State was his first choice. I found that X had offered, but google didn't turn up any other offers.

I think I'll reserve my opinion until he actually suits up for the Cats instead of while he's a junior in high school.
February 19, 200719 yr http://vmedia.rivals.com/uploads/951/368385.wmv Scout has exactly 1 PF listed at 6'7". That sounds undersized to me. He seems to move pretty well for a big guy, but that's probably because he isn't very big. http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p=9&c=4&yr=2008&cfg=bb There are SEVERAL players on that list to get excited about and he isn't on the list. August was after summer ball where he had to play against the best talent.
February 19, 200719 yr If you look at his bio on Rivals it has him as a verbal to Michigan. And 2 weeks ago he said Michigan State was a "perfect fit".......... Wonder how much this commitment is even worth?
February 19, 200719 yr My question is, what is the rush? He or 20 others like him will be available this time next year. I just don't understand why you would use a scholarship on a kid who isn't on anyone elses radar, outside of X, this early. Unless you think this is the best your gonna get.

This thought process is what has killed UK in recruiting. When a player is trending way up as a Junior you want to get him in the fold ASAP. When you wait around thinking there will be better options at the last minute you get Sheray Thomas and Bobby Perry...

Or you jump on someone early and get Adam Williams or the 7 footer who isn't playing his senior year in high school. It's way to early to offer this guy.
