Wow...UK playd pretty bad today..if it weren't for that 5-6 minute stretch of inspired ball, theu would've been run out of the building....no doubt that losing streaks suck...but the Cats have some serious work to do, just to get to the postseason with a chance to contend.

I have been TOTALLY behind Tubby. I've supported him and his decisions. But this game goes on the coaching staff. The team looked unprepared and thats an understatement. UNINSPIRED is the word of the day. Its kind of been that way since the Florida game. These players just look like they don't care.

That is what gets me the most.

 

I could care less if UK or any other team I support goes out and losses 15+ games every season, but to have a lack of effort makes my skin crawl more than anything else. When they do put forth EFFORT, they are tough to deal with.... unfortunately that only comes about 18% of the time

I'll actually give him a good bit more. I'd say he's 85% of what UK needs, but that doesn't cut it here. It does make it tough to choose a successor.

^ John Pelphry would be my choice...they may struggle...but they are doing that now with boring play...but it would be exciting at worst.

The only thing I can think of is that there is no one pushing Morris, there is no one pushing Bradley. Meeks is there to push Crawford and Crawford has actually really improved.

Therefore, they can give a subpar effort and still get major clock.

 

They are not prepared mentally to play. It shows in their attitude. "Attitude reflects leadership". Right now, OTS has done nothing to inspire them. He continually allows Bradley to make bone-head move after bone-head move. He allows Morris to give effort in spurts. Why? Who else can he turn to? He has made this bed and now he is sleeping in it.

 

He is grasping at straws with lineups. I still cant figure out his sub patterns. In the paper today, he talked about how hard it is to get Harris minutes. Boom, one of the first subs is Harris.

 

They cut the lead to two. Under 8 timeout. He takes out Stevenson who was playing well, he takes out Morris who had been playing better in that run. Boom lead back to 8 before he can get a timeout.

 

It is just very disappointing to watch that type of performance in really a "must win" game.

 

We all knew February was going to be tough back in November. Unfortunately, they have not done anything to show that they have improved.

 

I think OTS made a mistake by not giving Perry Stevenson all the clock in the world during that 7 or 8 game stretch of winnable games after the UK game.

 

It should have been obvious that they are not going anywhere with big time minutes being given to Bobby Perry and Sheray Thomas. Stevenson's development was going to be a real determination of this team's growth. Unfortunately, that didn't/hasn't happened.

 

Today, Alabama was nothing special and actually some of Gottfried's sub patterns and tactics were what allowed UK to make runs. A good team would have flat pummeled UK today.

 

I don't what you can do at this point. Win a game would be nice, but LSU poses enough of a threat to beat you at home.

 

As hard as I have tried to defend OTS it has reached a point to where all fingers are now firmly pointed in his direction.

 

I will root for him, but there isn't anything that has been done that shows me that this can be salvaged.

 

Maybe a haul of Patterson and Lucas would be a salve, but it could come on the heels of another disappointment of a season.

 

I feel like Walter Cronkite with Lyndon B Johnson.

I totally agree on Stevenson.

I also agree with the poor sub pattern at the 8 minute mark.

Dont feel bad about sticking with OTS too long I defended him hard until he dropped the ball on Lofton.

Since then I pull hard for the Cats but hope a change occurs very soon.

Great post. Unlike yourself I have not been behind Smith. I have been saying for 3 years that the wheels were coming off. Chuck Hayes willed UK to wins his senior year but the decline was coming down the track like a freight train.

 

Today was the UK season in a nut shell. It's time for a change.

The only thing wrong Top 3 Tubby has done is recruit a top ranked class that all you critics want him to, and they have been a total disappointment.

 

It is too easy to blame the coach, and give credit for that matter.

 

Has Coach K forgotten how to coach? Has Tom Izzo? Has Mark Few? Has Jim Calhoun? Has Jim Boeheim?

 

And neither has Tubby Smith; it is on these disappointing, mentally weak players. Perry & the juniors have all shown they can play; they are just not tough enough to get it done. Put the blame where it belongs, and quit taking the easy way out and claim you are a "true UK" fan.

This didn't just happen this year. Smith has lost 10 games or more in half of his season at UK. Please don't act like this years subpar team is an isolated incident.
