The 2A #1 ranked Beechwood Tigers make their first visit to the home of the St. Henry Crusaders. The Tigers are undefeated on the season at 6-0 while the Crusaders are now 4-2 and winners of 4 straight. In their 4 game winning streak St. Henry has scored 40 points or more in each game. Both teams stand at 2-0 in district play. It is a nice start to the season for a second year varsity football program.

St. Henry's offense is led by Jr. RB Lucas Pate who is averaging over 127 yards per game rushing and 9.7 yards per carry. So. WR David Penick has 300 yards receiving and is averaging an outstanding 21.4 yards per catch. The QB is So. Cy Parento.

The challenge for the Crusaders is going to be stopping the high powered Beechwood offense led by a trio of standout seniors. QB Emmett Queen is completing over 77% of his passes and has 13 TD's against just 1 INT. RB Nathan Pabst and WR Tyler Fryman are among the fastest players in the state and have the track state championship trophies to prove it. Queen's offensive weapons are deeper than those two with Sr. TE Bo Sowder, Sr. WR Caleb Arrasmith and Jr. RB Garrison Wilson all being TD scoring threats.

Can St. Henry's offense keep on this high scoring roll against Beechwood? What are you watching in this matchup?

BW without a doubt. But I find it pretty interesting that the Cru is the 2nd best team in the District in only their second year of varsity competition. Someone mentioned they move up to 3A next year? Don't understand the multiplier used on co-ed schools.

Walton-Verona and St. Henry have played two common opponents. St. Henry beat Brossart and lost to Boone County. Walton Verona lost to Brossart, but beat Boone County. So I would say it most likely will be a battle between those two for the two seed in the district.

St Henry middle school program has been outstanding over the last couple years. Good numbers, good coaching, good community support - it will be interesting to see how this program continues to develop in the upcoming years. While middle school success doesn't guarantee high school success, I think there are some solid teams in the future for the Cru and I hope this series continues even after St Henry moves to 3A. As far as this year goes Beechwood by a lot! Another clocked district game where the opponent will be lucky to score.

I assume this is the last game between these two schools with St. Henry moving up to 3A in 2027?

Also, if I am Beechwood there is no way I want to play St. Henry the next couple of years. I would take two years off and the revisit maybe playing the Crusaders.

Anyone?

Won't it be an RPI boost since St Henry will move to 3A? I also think St Henry will be very beatable over the next two years scheduling window. The real jump for them will come in 3-4 years, in my opinion.

Zero chance Beechwood plays St Henry in the next scheduling cycle. They lose 2 bad district games and pick up one with Brossart dropping down, it would make no sense to then add St Henry back onto the schedule by choice.

It would all depend on how many games St. Henry wins but still the game wouldn't be a challenge so no way.

It' really a shame that they have to play each other now. Beechwood rolls.

For RPI, it is much better to beat a 6A school than a 3A school. Watch RPI the last week of the season. Beechwood and LCA play 6A schools while Owensboro Catholic plays a 4A school and Mayfield plays a 3A school. When there are 5A and 6A schools to be scheduled that you are confident you can beat, you schedule them rather than a 3A school.
