Gut punch pass there.

Elder can kick it for the win here.

Nearly a TD pass by Elder but dropped, 7 seconds left, I assume E will attempt a FG.

Elder is going to run a play with only 7 seconds left, wow.

Now Elder called a timeout.

7 seconds is not enough.

FG good.

Elder 30 Highlands 27

4 seconds left.

Elder (OH) 30 Highlands 27

Final.

What a game. Great game from the Bluebirds. Players and coaches had a heck of a game. This Elder team looked rattled most of the night IMO. Looked like a different team than in Week 2 versus CCH. Credit to the Birds. If there is a "moral victory" game this season, then this is the moral victory game for the Birds.

Good showing by the Birds.

I agree, this is a moral victory for Highlands.

When Highlands was on the goal line they should have ran the ball with Lorenzen.

Highlands had the ball inside the Elder 5 with less than 2 minutes down 3. The plays called seemed to have the intent of running the run clock down rather than to score a touchdown. Highlands settled for a field goal.

Great effort by the Birds, just came up short.

Two redzone trips inside the 10 and Highlands only came up with just 3 points. Hard to win when you can’t punch those in. Play calling wasn’t my favorite on the end of either of those drives.

Credit to Elder, they did a great job scheming against Armstrong. Highlands found some weak spots but imo did not continue to exploit them. I’ve gathered over the Sphire years that they don’t like to adjust their gameplan as the game goes on.

Oldercoach’s memory is not always the best, but I don’t recall Lorenzon touching the ball in those ground and pound moments.
