Can't you just voice your opinion without taking cheap shots at Christians? It would be a refreshing change.

 

It sure seems in your view that a Christian cannot disagree with anyone's lifestyle and you would have disapproved with the way Jesus handled many things in his life.

As far as the issue, it is best to just stay quiet on the issue. Cause any answer besides obvious support and you are going to get ripped because of it.

 

Addressing a homosexual issue is like addressing a black issue. No way to do it without you coming across looking horrible. At this point in our media-driven society, you are not allowed to disagree with that lifestyle.

I was suprised. Very suprised. I didn't know anyone still had that much brass in this day and age of media coverage. Not saying I agree with what he said, but you have to give it to him for coming straight with it.

Shoe wasn't taking a shot at Christians, he just meant when most are asked questions like Hardaway was asked, they just use the, well the Bible is against it cop out instead of actually coming out and being as straight forward as he was.

Bad choice of words, I could deal with him admitting he doesn't condone the lifestyle but he should have kept the "hate" comment under wraps. Luckily for Hardaway he can two step his way out of the limelight after the initial blows he'll receive from the media since he's out of the league and fortunately not a commentator for the network anymore.

Believe it or not, I get where you're coming from. I think the statement is bigotry at its finest, but yes, at least he didn't use a crutch for supporting his moronic stance on a whole group of people.

Ya know... I only have a slight problem with this... he said what he thought... he shouldn't have worded it that way... I ain't got nothing against or for the issue personally but if he does thats his business... He is a "celebrity" that stepped out of politically correctness... he shouldn't have said it like that but he said what he thought and didn't lie to avoid controversy... I kinda respect that in a way...

Well since we are teetering on this being a religious thread, I'll say that I agree somewhat w/LBBC that I took offense to JS post about hiding behind the bible. I don't agree with the homosexual lifestyle either. In fact, God calls it an abomination. I don't agree with any type of sexual immorality, which as a Christian, I am not supposed to, and that includes adultery, homosexuality, etc.. Was Hardaway wrong? Perhaps the words he chose were, he may have been better served in saying he hates homosexuality, instead of homosexuals.

Since it is difficult to take everything in the Bible literally (at least for me), isn't possible that God / Jesus would rather us use our own experiences to make decisions about liking people / accepting things rather than stories / parables from 2,000+ years ago? I'm Catholic, and have no problem being friends with Homosexuals regardless of what is in the Bible because I believe that I was given free will and the ability to think for myself as a gift to use. I tend to use the Bible as a book of guidance and suggestions and not a roadmap. Am I wrong?

Well, since you brought it up, Jesus himself "befriended" the sinners. We are taught to love the sinner, but not the sin. If you can separate the two, you wouldn't have to make a comment like Hardaway did. That is why I said perhaps he should have said he hates homosexuality, instead of homosexuals. Personally, I tend to think that Christ gave us the parables as something timeless, not antiquated impertinent for us 2000+ yrs later.

In theory, I agree with that. The big picture, if you will, I agree with. However, I think (IMHO!!!) that some people get lost in the details and miss the big picture.

If Hardaway hadn't said "I hate gays", then I'd have no problem with what he said.

 

There is a difference in saying I disapprove of their lifestyle and "hating".

 

Call me a bigot, but everything else he said I agree with. Honestly, he should have just apologized for saying that he hated gays. The way he stated his apology make it sound like he was sorry for being uncomfortable around homosexuals, when he should have just apologized for being so harsh.
