The spotlight of the Owensboro / Owensboro Catholic rivalry completely shifts to how the Red Devils adjust without quarterback DaMarcusl Ganaway Jr., who is out with a broken collarbone. Sophomore Tyson Biggs now steps in at helm, facing the ultimate test of keeping a physical, title-defending 5A offense stable under major rivalry pressure.

If Biggs can manage the game cleanly and use his heavy run support to chew up clock, Owensboro High can ruthlessly exploit Catholic's glaring defensive vulnerabilities-the same ones that just surrendered 41 points to Apollo. Catholic's explosive offense will always get theirs, but if Biggs avoids early mistakes and let's Owensboro's size dominate the line of scrimmage, the Red Devils can easily prevent the Aces from turning this into a track meet.

Hearing the Devils will be at full strength on defense. Which means Green, Ashley and Hinton back.

OC is a fine 2A programs that you have to respect. Theres just too many horses on this Devils squad for the Aces to keep up. The Aces will move the ball and maybe even score a few times. Just not sure they can keep pace with the weapons O has on offense. Biggs when given time drops the ball in the basket! Against DC he tied the school record for most touchdowns thrown in a game(6). If he's able to get the ball to playmakers I look for O to make a statement in this game.

Owensboro racks up points at a faster pace than Owensboro Catholic in this one. I'll go with Owensboro by 21.

I want to see the Kobe Pullom vs. Carrico matchup on the line. This will be a huge factor in the game. If Pullom can get a pass rush then the big GREEN WALL might experience some issues. If Pullom can't get a rush then the BIG GREEN WALL is a problem for us.

Owensboro wins this battle.

Ganaway being out makes this way more interesting. Carothers is a huge +1 for the Aces. I think that dynamic evens things out a bit.

However, I think Owensboro's supporting cast has more guys that can step up and play starring roles.

I'll take the Devils in a nip and tuck battle.

At Steele, no G'way at QB for O. O has the better skill players and speed. How well will Biggs play? To me he has a number of guys that can move the ball well. If O has green Hinton Ashley back I look for a great game from the defense, G'way is here I think O wins going away. Both teams play to their capabilities then it's Owensboro by 21. Give me O 35-24.

Having Green back at Safety is big for the Devils. He's potentially the best safety in the District. Hard hitting run stopper and will make you think twice before catching it up the middle. He's as important to the secondary as Ashley is to the Linebacker core.

Interested to see how this game plays out. Without much of a run game from OC does O rush 3 or 4 and send everyone in coverage and clog passing lanes? As good as OC QB is, 7-8 in coverage will be hard to throw on consistently.

Conversely how will OC choose to attack the Devils? Do they rush the young QB in hopes of overwhelming him; Leaving Dillard, Shemwell, Fountain and Bryant in single coverage? Do they play cover 2 and let Walker run all over gods creation? Personnel wise I just don't see how this game stays close. But it's a big time Rivalry and since 2020 probably a top3 match up in western KY so anything can happen.

Really excited for this one as it could be the Devils last true test before the post season.

Good stuff - agree. Biggs isn't G'way, Max Johnson or Carruthers, but he can put the ball on the money if given time. Owensboro area has had some really good QB's over last 10 years. Cambron and Humphreys at DC, Carruthers and Atwell at OC, Clark/ Johnson Apollo, Wimsatt, Ganaway, Warren at Owensboro. I'm sure I'm missing others. Owensboro has to block well and open lanes for Walker and Kindle. If Green is back, I believe he will come back at safety.

I like the Red Devils to win by a couple of scores. The Aces have arguably the best QB in the State but the supporting cast isn't as strong as the opposing team in this one.
