A obvious choice to me last year would have been Terrence Brooks, from what I have heard he wanted it last time. I know there seemed to be a falling out which led to him coaching middle school last year at Bourbon County. Will he be interested and can those relationships be mended? The fact remains to be successful at Bourbon County or Paris, you're going to have to be one of the best teams in the state just to make the regional tournament. Tough world to live trying to compete against Moco and GRC.

Brooks left Paris after the 2019/20 season and went to Harrison County , left Harrison after the 2023/24 season.

I made the final 4 for this job but, withdrew after I was announced. They told me in the interview what this would look like. The interview room was wild, probably 15+ people in the initial interview.

So they’re letting the community interview candidates? What could go wrong?

Have had several people reach out to me on this. No one has thought it was a good idea. I am not on Facebook. But, I was told this morning that this was no longer posted. I hope they had a change of heart.

It’s still posted.

I made the final 4 for this job but, withdrew after I was announced. They told me in the interview what this would look like. The interview room was wild, probably 15+ people in the initial interview. Parents, ADs, Principals, dean of students, players and even players asked questions. They even gave us the names of the other candidates lol If you were chosen to be in the final 4, you each had 30 minutes to run a practice, then if you made the final two, you come back for this debate a week later. The debate, one candidate is on stage while the other is off stage in a room where they can't hear anything. Then they switch. The entire interview process is 3+ weeks long.

After going 3-21 last season, and in a district with GRC and Montgomery Co. I'm surprised they had 4 applicants.  To me, an open forum seems to be a way to deflect the responsibility of making an hire.

Could you imagine if the two people who go through with this decline the job after all of this?

After going two thirds of the way, why would you pull out?  Paris is a nice community and Lexington is your next neighbor.

Two finalists according to KSR:

Juan Byars- Current Madison Southern Girls Basketball Coach. Played at Paris in the 90’s. His two girls played at GRC, phenomenal players.

Brian Snodgrass-Not familiar with this person. Anyone know who this is?

Accepted another job offer, they had a deadline. Couldn't put all my eggs in this basket.

Last one standing after everyone else withdrew.

One year, Sweet 16, Steph & I got stuck on an elevator between floors in the Hyatt. I am claustrophobic & flipping out. We are between floors.  I start to pull the doors apart and yell, "someone get me out of here!"

I hear a voice...."Coach?"

It was Juan Byars!

He was a student at Paris when I was there. Wonderful young man. Go Greyhounds!
