Kentucky Basketball = Final Four

Featured Replies

I won't discredit MSUEagle predicting that UK will make the final four, because I think they have about as good of a chance as anyone else. Aside from Florida and UNC (and I've been up and down on even including them in this) you can make an argument for so many people taking those spots.

This tournament should be even more fun than last year, IMO.

You can spin the same story for about 40 teams right now. "If our best 3 players are on and they get help from a few others we have a shot". No kidding...

What Im saying is that with our defense we dont necessarily have to have our players clicking on all cylinders offensively to get to say the Sweet 16. Then once we get there, the team has a little confidence built. UK has a proven big man who can score. And we know this team will be willing to get after people.

You're new ;) just letting you know how we roll... :jump:

"Bad Boys, Bad Boys, whatcha gonna do..."

The BIG III is gaining strength towards the conclusion of college basketball 2007.

With Duke, UL, and UC all down you would think the ragging on UK would be at its best

Can you expect that D to hold up for 4 in a row in March? Lets take a look at the last four games for a sample size. VERY good D against UT and Florida. Decent against Arkansas, but 8 points over the season average of 65 points a game. And then 61 2nd half points to South Carolina. UK COULD make the Final Four like a lot of teams at this point. But also like a lot of teams there are inconsistencies that make you wonder if they could string four in a row.

There are NINE teams in the Big East holding teams to fewer than 65 points a game. Is DePaul a Final Four threat in your eyes? They are maybe a bubble team, and likely out with numbers similar to UK and at least an equal roster...

How you going to compair a team that is 14-11 to UK who is 18-6!!

That crappy 14 win team scored 81 on the mighty Cats D. You guys fall into every trap I set... :D

I didn't say they were crappy they have a few solid wins. It was the 3rd game of the season. They Cats D is leaps and bounds better than it was then. Nice try tho.

I guess there is a free pass for USC scoring SIXTY ONE points in a HALF???

Everyone struggles sometimes.:D

I think tonight says a lot about the Cats and where this season will be headed.

My view on this is that this team is not a mentally strong team and as a result struggles to stay focused.

I feel the juniors have shown that mental toughness is not their forte. Freshmen are freshmen and not known for that. So in a tight game against a good opponent, Florida, they can stay focused and compete.

Against a lesser opponent that they have a big lead on, they lose that focus and drive. And can't get it back as easily as they had it at the beginning of the game. We have seen them blow leads numerous times and I think that is indication that they do not stay focused and thus, mentally weak.

I also think basketball-wise they are not a smart team. As we saw on Sat, Florida, who I think is a very intelligent basketball team (not necessarily talking academics here) was a good basketball team because they are smart and understand the game. The junior class relies on athletic ability to make plays. They are not basketball smart. Freshmen, are freshmen. So this team will struggle to be a good passing team because they struggle to understand what makes a great basketball team.

My view is that good passing teams are usually very smart players basketball wise.

And it's not often a team with that mentality makes a 4 game run to the FF in March. I'm just saying... :walk:

Now which final four are we talking about here, the NCAA or the NIT? If it's the NCAA, no, the NIT, maybe. The way the Cats are playing right now at UT, it doesn't look good.
