Cooper visits St. Henry (2/12/26)

Sully goes against former team, big game for bragging rights.

Who are you taking?

I like St. Henry.

I'm not sure who wins, but I know these are my two favorite coaches in the area, and this will be the worst version of each program that we'll see for the next few years.  It is only up for both of these programs under these two men.

No one will enjoy tonight more than Sully and Justin, and rightfully so.  They love to compete.  They love each other.  What a great combination.

Holthaus.  Used to be Sully's assistant, then became the best Girls' Basketball Coach since Nell Fookes with Cooper's girls, now taking over the boys' program this year at Cooper.

Yes, I corrected myself. I thought it was Conner vs St. Henry instead of Cooper.

Per LinkNKY Facebook page: St. Henry’s Caden Kunstek hits the 3-pointer in overtime at the buzzer as the Crusaders defeat Cooper, 46-43. What a game in Erlanger this evening!

 

 

 

Looks like Culture has made it over to St. Henry ????

Officiating was HORRID at best for both teams as 2/3 officials didn’t seem to have a clue!!

The biggest battle to me came when the Cooper ASSISTANT Coach, who was employed by Sully at one point, gets off the bench and runs his mouth to Sully at half court as he’s talking to the official which led to them having words. Why is he even off the bench in the first place?! Then to top it off, he gets out of the handshake line just before it’s time to shake hands with Sully at the end of the game! Hope Holthaus checks him. 

 

What a great game as players for both teams played their hearts out for their coaches. Congrats to coach Sully on the win! Both programs are in great hands with the coaches leading them, and I see these two eventually one day battling each other in the regional tournament in a few years. 

It looks like the Cooper administration has the new culture that they wanted?   Going from 24-6 and state quarterfinalist last season to currently 3-19 so far this season.   Lol

Not taking up for Cooper admin whatsoever because their principal completely botched this whole situation, but, Coach Sully himself wouldn't have anymore success with the roster that Cooper has now in my opinion. Now, I believe one or two players transferred due to the coaching change and that would have made a difference. Anyone in the know about Cooper Basketball saw this "rebuild" coming and they have a VERY talented head coach that is currently leading the boys program and will have them competing for district/regional championships soon.

With all that being said, I am sure last night was very sweet for Coach Sullivan and also pretty emotional. I am glad his Crusaders were able to come out on top and his team continues to get better each week. I really like the Kunstek kid, he was a talented football player as well!

Does anyone have any inside info on the scuffle between Coach Sully and one of Cooper's assistant coaches? 

There was absolutely no “scuffle” between coaches. Sully was speaking with an official on his side of half court when Cooper’s freshman coach got up off the bench, completely unprovoked, and walked to the other side of half court and said something to Sully and the official. To categorize it as a “scuffle” would suggest Sully had a part in it. It was completely one sided and something I have never seen in over 40 years of being around the game.
