They may very well beat Russell, but until they do it I think Russell is the favorite. But along with the Red Devils, Elliott County, Ashland and a dark horse for me is Boyd County, are teams that I think could win this region. Oh, I am sure that Jeff Hall is pretty proud to be on Sports Illustrated getting Wilson stamped to his forehead too, hahaha.

Not suprised by the outcome. Elliott is very good and even better at home. The Faulkners and Ferguson are great competitors.

Tommy Knipp (8th Grader off the bench) was the difference in the game. He blocked shots, altered shots, forced turnovers, shot the rock and handled the pressure extremely well.

 

He should be in the rotation a lot more after this showing!

 

I am still sticking with my pre-season picks.

 

1. Russell

2. Elliott Co

2. now 3. Ashland

4. Rowan Co

Elliot , and Drew Mcdavid having to sit with some foul trouble was the big difference in the game, Bonner and Mcdavid were getting and 1's early and the second half they couldnt find them, but give credit to elliot for that. Elliot shot the ball well. Faulkners hit some BIG shots too

You are exactly right, Shooterx3. Elliott should get credit for Ashland's offensive struggles.

 

Far too often we see fans lament the way their team didn't play well, without giving the other team's defense credit.

Congrats to Elliott Co on the win. The way the 16th region is, I would have picked Ashland by 10 if this game was played at their gym.

 

It literally is a pick em between these two and Russell and it will be REALLY fun to see how it all plays out in Morehead.

So they must see the great team spirit and support they show, win or lose..

I hear they are going to offer classes to other schools that want to form a cheering section!

Best we could tell on the video Ferguson sat out right at ten minutes with foul trouble too. I would say that equalled things out!!!! By the way Big Dog23

Congratulations to Elliott County. Big win, late in the season. I'm with Onetoya - Ashland will regroup and give it another shot.

 

Sounded like Elliott's ability to hit the 3 turned the tide.

Just think if they shot better. What is so impressive about this win is that Elliott didn't have their best game shooting, but still won with a great defensive effort.
