I don't think anyone is saying that Elliott didn't earn this win. I think that it is clearly obvious that they did.

 

They hit shots that they needed to hit, they were behind in the second half and didn't give up, they played good defense (which forced turnovers), and they kept a cool head in the closing minutes.

 

Without question, they earned the win.

You guys are killin me. Elliot won the game because they played a better ball game. They made plays down the stretch, plain and simple. They deserved to win and they did. They proved that on that night, they were the better team. I for one though Elliot would win this game by close to 10 points, I'm not at all surprised they did. I think if the teams meet again Elliot will come out on top by a wider margin of points. You guys have a great team thats only going to get better. Congratulations.

Elliott just made the plays down the stretch to win. Way too many turnovers for the Tomcats. Should be a good one if they meet up again.

GIAT has been known to stir the pot and say things that very few of us outside of Ashland and many of the Ashland fans agree with, I think he was being genuine with this post. I'm not in any way, shape or form a Tomcat fan, but I dont think by saying that Elliot made plays when they needed to and Ashland had too many turnovers is a shot at Elliot or saying they got lucky. I just dont see it. I dont see how saying a team made plays down the stretch and Ashland had too many turnovers could be turned around into saying a team got lucky. I very rarely will defend GIAT, but in this case, even from a Boyd fan, I think it may be needed.

Didnt intend to strike a nerve. I was simply stating that I didnt understand how you could take "Elliot made plays down the stretch, Ashland had too many turnovers" in the way that some of you had taken it. If you go back and look at many of my posts concerning GIAT, I typically dont take up for anything that comes out of his mouth. I can honestly say this is the first time in my short stay here at BGP that I had ever taken up for the guy. If you look back even such as short time ago as the Ashland/Elliot prediction thread I predicted Elliot to win and even got in a few shots at GIAT in that thread. Because we are from the same county really means nothing, we come from rival school, I wouldnt take up for the guy unless I really thought he was getting a bad deal, I thought he was. So please if at all possible don't assume that I am running to the aid of a guy when he is in the wrong just because we are from the same county...Just my opinion, and like elbows, I'm sure a pretty high percentage of people have them.

 

Back to the game. Elliot has a great team this year, I honestly think they have the talent to win the region this year and the next few years after that.Fergeson is an animal, I've watched him once this year, the kid can play and hustles the entire game. Elliot / Rose Hill will be a great matchup to watch as these young men mature. Elliot made plays down the stretch when they needed them the most. Ashland had too many turnovers and it cost them. No disrespect intended there, I'm not trying to say that Elliot got lucky, I honestly think they were the better team that night and have been the better team since last year at regionals so please dont pick this apart.

Yes we do know what they did to win the game. They made plays, they didnt turn the ball over in critical moments of the game, they played well, they had contributions off the bench, they played hard and ultimately they scored more points than Ashland did. Those are typical things that need to come together for a team to win. Elliot did those things, they won. I dont think anyone on this site is trying to discredit Elliot of a nice win just because Ashland had more turnovers. Turnovers are forced by good defense, Elliot played good defense...

Two things are indicated in those six words. First, I am stating that it is my opinion. Second, I wasn't limiting my statement to GIAT's post, but to all of the posts in this thread, in general.

Well Hootscoot quoted Giat's post and evidently hit a nerve with you because

you then quoted what Hootscoot said to Giat. I myself would determine from that that your statement was about Giat's post because he was the only one said anything pertaining to what Hootscoot posted, which you responded too.

I am not a very educated individual so I am sure you can burn me up with fancy words and all that, but I do have a lot of common sense and I can read between the lines! You have a nice evening. I wont respond for a while because I am heading out to watch Elliott and West.
