I don't think you can judge the quality of the field based on whether or not a team advances to the sweet 16 six weeks later. Obviously year in and year out the best teams don't always make the sweet 16. I'm sure you know you have to have a lot of things go your way at the right time to make it out of the region. Especially with the quality of competition that some of these schools have to face in the region tournament.

So once again, comparatively speaking to the fields in the past, this is a weak field. But It's OK, it is still a great event with lots of good teams, and your team will have a chance to win a big game. And don't worry, if they do win a big game, nobody is going to take any credit away from you for doing so!

We can differ in opinion.  It’s fine to agree to disagree.  Your initial argument was using one metric, and I countered with another metric.  All good.

Somerset and Martin Co should be an awesome round 2 game.

I agree. I'm going upset here! Absher can play, and he has an underrated supporting cast!

Somerset has been playing well of late. A lot of those kids have been playing in big games for years now. I could definitely see them making a run at this thing.

I'm a DCA fan and was disappointed that we didn't go back this year but Somerset simply outplayed us.  I have to give credit where credit is due.  Somerset has a good chance, especially if they're hitting their threes.

It's been a while since I attended this awesome event. Is an 8am start and getting all the games in in one day in the 1st round been a thing for a while?

As long as I can remember ( over 20 years ??)

I can't wait til the tournament is back at EKU - or someplace that is  more convenient for more people.  Owensboro is not convenient for about 2/3 of the state.

With renovations completed at Alumni Coliseum last year, I'd have thought that EKU would be ready to host the All 'A' again. Maybe next season?

From what I've read, the Owensboro Convention and Visitors Bureau has created a serious ecosystem for hosting statewide tournaments at the Sportcenter - first the Kentucky 2A and now the All 'A'. Richmond and EKU may need to up their game.

Looks like you're onto something here, as the 11th region tournament will be at EKU this year.

Yes and no. First, it's an 8:30am start, not 8am. However, back in the 1990s the first game started at 9am, followed by 10:30, Noon, and 1:30. They bumped the first game up to 8:30 several years ago to give a little time between the morning and evening sessions to clear the gym, pick up trash, etc.

I am curious to how the predicted weather for Saturday will affect the tournament.

Good question and probably not too much since all boys and girls teams should already be in Owensboro. There have been a few years where weather has been a factor: in 2009, the schedule was modified throughout the weekend due to an ice storm and in 2021 (already delayed by Covid), the first two rounds were played at high school campuses before bringing the final four to Eastern.

I'm guessing it will be a wait and see deal, as the girls side starts on Wednesday.

Good thing you cleared up the 8am to 830am start times. That was the biggest question I had.

❄️ | Schedule changes just announced for tomorrow's quarterfinals due to impending weather. All bumped up two hours ~

Central Standard Time:

3:00, 4:30, 6:00, and 7:30.

? Per the All 'A' Board of Directors, after tomorrow's boys' and girls' quarterfinal games, all four semifinals and both championship games will be played on Sunday, February 1.
