Thoughts and predictions?  My first thought is the top side of the bracket is pretty loaded up.

I see Caverna and Lyon Co. coming out.  

Clinton Co, Caverna, Somerset and Martin Co. “could” win their big regional title as well.

Somerset and Martin Co should be an awesome round 2 game.

I would be shocked if Martin Co. isn’t there, but that’s why you play the games.  Breathitt wasn’t even expected to be here, but had a great upset over Hazard.  Somerset has been playing good ball, and I guarantee WV has their full attention.  WV shoots 26 3’s per game, and when you play that style can beat anyone. 

The All A classic is a fantastic event, and very difficult to advance in. But this year seems to be the weakest field it has had, maybe ever. Last year there were four teams in the top 10 in the KSR state rankings heading in; Hazard, Clinton County , Green County and Danville Christian. As well as the defending state champions (Lyon County).

Still a great event. I know that Lyon County wants this championship really badly, so that would be my pick!

Definitely don’t see it as a weak field.  KSR rankings aren’t the end all be all.  Out of those teams, only DCA advanced to the big state tournament.  Caverna just got Gavin Lightning eligible and Keathley for Martin Co. is leading scorer in state.  Somerset obviously beating DCA on their home floor kept the defending state champions out of it to repeat.  I would let it shake out before judging the field as a whole.  Several of these teams could be at Rupp in March.

Yeah, it's definitely a weak field comparatively speaking to what it's been in the past. Nobody is saying that KSR is the end be all. But they do a fairly decent job of ranking teams throughout the season.  And yes, there are some teams in the event that we could see in the Sweet 16,

DCA was the only team in the field last season that made the big Sweet Sixteen.  I wouldn't exactly call that a stacked field.  IMO, there will multiple class A schools make it from this year's field.

I don't think you can judge the quality of the field based on whether or not a team advances to the sweet 16 six weeks later. Obviously year in and year out the best teams don't always make the sweet 16. I'm sure you know you have to have a lot of things go your way at the right time to make it out of the region. Especially with the quality of competition that some of these schools have to face in the region tournament.

 So once again, comparatively speaking to the fields in the past, this is a weak field. But It's OK, it is still a great event with lots of good teams, and your team will have a chance to win a big game. And don't worry, if they do win a big game, nobody is going to take any credit away from you (them) for doing so!
