Final from Arizona. The Miami Hurricanes are heading to National Championship game in Miami! Congrats and also a big congratulations to the Ole Miss Rebels they have nothing to hang their heads about. What a game!

I wonder now who thinks ND should have been in over Miami?

Has anyone ever seen a pass interference call on a Hail Mary? It’s never called and this was an instance it would’ve been a correct call. Maybe it’s a unwritten rule.

I am shocked that Michael Irvin and Ray Lewis is not up on the stage.?

Another interesting fact with the Ole Miss loss tonight this now marks the 3rd straight year that there will be no SEC team in the title game.

Maybe it just does not mean more, anymore ?‍♂️

I think they explained well why it wasn't PI. Mutual combat. I was rooting for Ole Miss but I don't see that play as PI.

I was super impressed with Trinidad Chambliss in the playoffs. Accurate throws. Quick decision maker. If I am an NFL team I am taking a chance on him later in the draft.

Miami definitely has done their part. With that said, if Notre Dame was given the opportunity. They very well could have done the same thing, and people would say exactly the same thing but opposite. You just don’t know until the game is played. 
 

With that said with how things played out. The real argument should have been should Notre Dame had been in over Bama and Oklahoma. Which IMO if it was about taking the best teams for the playoffs, Notre Dame would have been in over both. However, they weren’t given that shot to prove it like those teams got.

Same! He is very impressive!

This was fun to watch. I’m on board with what was said about the Hail Mary not being called PI on. They are all definitely playing physical on plays like that, especially in the end zone or close to it. Either way, fun game to watch. I would have been happy for either winning. It is huge for the ACC with Miami getting to the championship game with how bad the conference has been viewed and spoken of by many. As far as when an SEC team makes it back, it’s a fair question to think on. It will happen at some point, but when is the question.
 

In losing, Ole Miss played their hearts out, which was clear. I thought their quarterback had an impressive playoff too. And I don’t look for Kiffin to ever advance as far as Ole Miss did into the last four with LSU or anyone else.

The kicker for Ole Miss definitly needs to be on the NFL radar. He was a major reason they won last week and were in the game last night. Had he not doinked the one kick, they would've been in range for a game winner again.  How many INTs did Miami drop last night? Their defense stepped up once again. Miami certainly proved me wrong with their offense, but I was also unaware that Ole Miss was the 3rd worst tackling team in the SEC as they said last night. Great game overall, exciting until the last play and that's what we want as fans.

Agreed.  My argument was never against Miami's inclusion because of the head-to-head match with the Irish, although I think Miami's inability to win a weak ACC this year was pretty bad and they had worse losses on the whole.  If the ACC had better tiebreakers based on the CFP rankings, Miami should've been in the ACC title game, rendering the whole debate mute.

But I do think the Irish should've been included over Alabama or Oklahoma.  The SEC just wasn't as strong of a conference this year to warrant as many teams as they got and after Alabama's poor performance in the SEC title game there was enough grounds to jettison them from the field.  Even Oklahoma was trending downward after the QB got hurt.  But conference title games are in a weird spot right now with this playoff concerning whether losses/performance in them should count for your spot in the field.  Moving to bigger conferences makes this a mess too because without divisions you get lots of teams with similar records who don't always have comparable schedules.

As for that last paragraph. To be fair to Kiffin, he is the one helped get Ole Miss to now being one of the top programs these last two years. He put this roster together, went out and got these players that made the playoffs with him as the coach. Shoot he is even the one who put the staff together. So he has shown that he can put a top team together now. The biggest difference now is he went from a place he would have been loved forever, with runs like this. To a place now where even making the final four won’t be good enough, as that is more what is expected.

No doubt. The ACC making a mess with their conference title game, is what led to all this. Which has been my biggest gripe, because of Miami not being in the ACC title game. It showed how sketchy a human led committee can be, and led to agendas. Which showed when they moved Bama ahead of Notre Dame, after barely beating a bad Auburn team. They had to do though, in order to make sure the ACC got a team in, in case Virginia lost like they did. They couldn’t have Notre Dame in front of Bama, if Virginia lost. Or else it would have been leave the ACC out of the playoffs, or move a team out of the playoffs for losing their conference championship. Which is a precedent they didn’t want to set, because it is a money maker for conferences. If they move Bama out after being steam rolled by Georgia, it would have led to a hissy fit by teams saying they should have conference title games then. 
 

I don’t believe at all the committee thought Bama was better than Notre Dame. Which is why they had Notre Dame ahead of Bama until the last week. However, they had to make Bama jump Notre Dame for personal agendas to protect the ACC and also conference championship games. So it wasn’t about putting the best teams in, it was about agendas. Which is why I lean towards letting the old BCS system select the 12 team or 16 team field.

Crazy how this team who didn’t even play in their conference title game eliminates the last SEC team. Speaks to just how deep the ACC really is. Miami has fought through the gauntlet of the ACC schedule and it has paid off for them!

Is the SEC in trouble? Third year in a row there won’t be an SEC champion, and we all know that’s the measuring stick. Maybe they need to look at scheduling tougher OOC games as the league is clearly down. 

Wild to think Louisville beat one of the teams playing in the National Championship. After all, it just means more.
