Wouldn't the teams in a blind draw still have to win a game?

If you are that worried about it, why do we let losers in the districts go to regionals and then win regionals to go on to state when they couldn't even win their districts. They surely didn't earn it "on the court."

Without seeding, some of the regional qualifiers are simply "lottery winners", and render the regular season meaningless?? I don't think even the small schools would be putting up pictures in their gyms of their regional qualifiers, and be proud saying "We got to regions because they picked the right pill out of the jar"??

If the goal is to get the best teams to the regionals, and play for the right to represent the region at the Sweet Sixteen; then seeding is the only way to go!! The stronger teams in the region actually benefit from the "draw" method, as this often waters down the regional field; and frequently the top team needs only win one tough game to win the whole thing!!

I'd actually support seeding all districts, but expanding the number of games allowed from the current 29, to say 34-35, which would allow for mandatory home & home games for all district opponents, and still preserve the ability for a team to schedule outside of their areas!!

I'm sure the district runner-up qualifying rule was put into place to allow for situations where closely matched teams are paired up in the same district, and also for situations such as ill-timed injuries? Also, there are certainly advantages to playing at home for certain teams in districts, which may not exist at the regional level (unless you're in the 10th :D )? Obviously the same arguments could be made for the regional runner-ups as well, but I guess you need to draw the line somewhere??

Having that district tourney on your floor WILL help bring that home team holding the district a victory and a pass to the regions ALOT. It happened to me a while back and our team didn't deserve to go to regions that year IMO.. That year our district drawed and the next year we seeded...

I know many will disagree but I would like to see the 39th seed. I think it would boost the regular season atmosphere for games between Bracken, St. Patrick and A-Town. You win those games and you stay away from the Royals in the first round. I think it sounds good.

I think you are correct. Would make them just work a little bit harder, Coach a little harder. I dont care for the Its ok if we lose tonight as long as we win one game in February approach.

I agree but I don't see Mason wanting to come to Augusta once a year.

If everyone in a district would not play one another ,home and away , you would be forced to draw, because you wouldn't have a basis for a seed.

I don't see Mason wanting to play Augusta, Bracken and St.Pat twice a year no matter where the games are played.

Seeding makes the regular season have much more importance. Teams are awarded for a good job during the season. It also makes for a better regional tournament.

Does Mason play them at all? 36th district teams don't play each other in the regular season. This district system seems kind of antiquated. Why not take all the schools in a region and have a true tourney where you are out if you lose.

Except for the district losers in the finals , you are out when you lose.

They have Played St.Pat during the regular season and Bracken In a tourny at Mason. The only game I have seen Mason play in Augusta was a freshmen game last year.

I don't know the last time they played Augusta, Outside of the districts last year.

They met in the District Tourney in 2002. But other than postseason play, the two Varsity teams have not played since the Mid '90's in the MCIT.

Seeding is the right thing to do to make the regular season meaningful.

However, if you don't seed the regional or state tourney (and I am not sure exactly how you would) does it really matter?
