It will most certainly change.  I think you'll see LCA stay on the schedule since they'll probably be moving up a class as well.  Hopefully BG stays on the schedule and possibly Ryle although I don't think Ryle will be nearly as good as they have been in the last couple of years.  I would like to see them replace Central Hardin & Fern Creek on the schedule for sure.  I know Coach Cantwell put it on Listserv that CAL is looking for opponents in the 2027-28 cycle.  We'll see who potentially steps up.

Right, change and change with some better teams being added, at least in class.

I wonder about Ryle too.  If they are down much at all they will get clocked by CAL and if that happens I wonder if they will stick with the series or find a way to tap out.

  • No. Put yourself in Trinity’s shoes. They are viewed at the very top of KHSAA football. 30 state championships. By playing a lower class team, 3 classes lower, based in their own town, Trinity has not

  • I respect the BG and Owensboro games on CAL's 2025 and 2026 schedules, but if we don't see X or T in 2027/28, it's gonna be pretty disappointing.

I am thinking CAL runs the table and may not even have a close game.

The 2026 calendar has been sent out to all parents (includes from June until December with dates, practice times, 7V7, games, etc.).  It appears CAL will not be going to Hoover this year but will instead go to Ironton for their 7v7 tournament.  CAL will travel the day before and head over to Huntington HS in WV for some 7v7 work.  Other than that, it appears their 7v7 schedule is the pretty much identical to last year.  Spring practice will start for CAL in May and I can't wait to get that rolling.

Just less than 2 weeks from the start of spring practice.

It's early and it's just spring practice, but I really like the makeup of this coming year's team.  Last year's team lost quite a few key players, but I believe this year's team will be better than last year.

I thought last year’s team was easily the 2nd best team in the state.  Personally, I think it would have given Trinity a game.  Congrats to Coach Cantwell on building a dynasty!!

I know, right, ugh..

I wish the KHSAA would have went with one of my ideas, just bump CAL up to 4A (leave everyone else alone), do it right away, and play ball.

I think 2026 is going to be an especially tough year for teams like Murray and Lloyd playing under the shadow of CAL.

I've been told by many folks on both sides that a Trinity-CAL game will likely never happen. But it would likely be competitive with how dominant these two programs have been.

Regardless of if or when, this would’ve been the best year for Trinity and CAL to play. A lot of seniors and Juniors who played together on those back to back Louisville Chargers National Championship Tavel teams years ago are on both teams. All kids winning multiple state titles for both schools. This would’ve brought the whole city out at Cardinal stadium and big time life bragging rights. Would’ve had a Brohm vs Bush game feel.

A trinity CAL game won’t ever happen. Trinity wouldn’t play that game. I don’t think Trinity will play anyone under 6A.

Boyles reached out for 27/28 with no reply, that’s why I am under that assumption.
