  • Jacob Martin, Pendleton County Defensive Coordinator and former Brossart assistant under Coach Wiggins, has been named head coach. He graduated Brossart 2017.

  • Scott Wise would be a great hire for Brossart. Played and I believe won a State Title at Highlands, Played football and earned a Economics Degree from College of Holy Cross in Worcester Massachusetts.

  • I hope he or whomever is ok.

There is an Assistant Coach on this past year's staff that is one of the best unknown high school football coaches in the state of KY: Ed Smart.  He's been a very successful head coach; Grayson County (NOT a football school) He was an extremely beneficial offensive coordinator.  He's coached in college. Open your eyes. If you want young instead; hire his son.  I don't know him personally...but I'm guessing he's good and he might hire his Dad.  Go Win!

Believe that they are still accepting applications. From what I have heard they have at least 10 applications so far for the head coach job.

That’s a promising sign if the number is that high. They need to make the right hire (obviously) and give them time, if needed, to get their plan into action.

Would have to think they are waiting for school to get back in. So we should be a week or so away from news.

Waiting for Mustang to see the smoke!

What is the interest level for a head coach with experience? Wiggins to Newport and Kozerski gone after two years doesn’t lead one to believe in stability.

Wiggins was there for a number of years. Koz from what I understand left for personal reasons (which may be out of his control). When they decided "Going another direction" from Wiggins may have been the plan, but I don't think they saw Koz leaving.

If they get the right guy, he shows dedication, and wins. I think the stability is there. They proved that with Wiggins. I still think there was more to his leaving.

Eager to see what happens with this job. Hope we hear something within next 2-3 weeks.

What do Brossarts numbers look like as far as feeders coming into the school? Do they get solid classes and just lose kids? Or are they just getting small numbers coming in? I would think with their enrollment 40-50 kids would be on par or average.

I’m positive they average around 60-70 per class. Could be wrong I know a few years ago they graduated at class of 80/90 kids one year.

Any update on who is in the running for this?

It's getting late. Even if technically a coach can't be named until 2/1/26.

The last time around the administration fired Coach Wiggins with an alleged plan in place to get their new coach (which we all know didn't pan out). The announcement that Wiggins had been let go came on January 3, 2024 and they hired either the 3rd or 4th person they offered the job to on February 14, 2024. So even going into the process with a plan in-hand, it still took Brossart 43 days to make their hire.

Assuming the administration wasn't anticipating Coach Kozerski's resignation on November 19th, they're currently 50 days out as of today. Given the circumstances, I don't really feel like this is all that crazy of a wait.

That is interesting, and if 60-70 is the average class, it is smaller than I'd have thought.  So if they have 35 boys per grade in 10-12, that is a total of 105 boys.  They have a solid CC team (fall sport), and a very solid soccer team, so that is about 30 boys out of that group.  Then you have a fair number, I'm sure, of young men who don't play any fall sports, so the potential team size for their varsity football team is fairly small.

It was known before the end of the season.
