You also said O wouldn’t running clock Grayson. Then they proceeded to put up 62 points. And MNH was a good team until O beats the breaks off them now they’re a nobody team when none of their defeats were more than 9points other than O. Even GW (whose considered a solid team by many of the BG area folks) only beat them by 3. I’m sure after O beats them they’ll be a nobody too. O could running clock everybody in the playoffs and the sentiment on here would be 5A is just down this year.

Also comparing Wimsatt and Ganaway atp isn’t fair because 1 had 2 1/2 yrs in a system with other players he’s played with since middle school, and the other is playing with a team he just met less than 8months ago. Can’t really hold the CAL and St. X game against Ganaway. But based on efficiency alone Ganaway is better.

Honestly, I figured O would running clock Grayson, I was being facetious more than anything.  I just truly do not think O has played a tough game in close to three months and it would be a concern for me as the playoffs continue.  I think everyone can agree 5A is down this year.  Not that it would take away from O or anyone winning a state championship, cause winning one is not easy at all.  Losing South Warren to 6A, who looks to be the second best team in KY behind Trinity, and seeing Highlands in 4A with a chance at a title run shows that 5A is down this year.  Can O win it all, sure.  However, so could about 5 other teams as there is not a dominate 5A team, like in most years.

I realize O'Boro lost handily in the 1st 2 games, but, I'd also say there isn't a 5a team out there that would have faired any better against those 2 teams. While the schedule has been easier since then, they've still been dominant against some pretty decent teams. and I don't see any other team from out west to challenge them till the semi's. Atherton would be the 1 team I'd be concerned about. I think this is just an off year for B. Green and would expect the Devils to beat them pretty handily this year. Once they get to the semi's, they'll be challenged by Woodford, Pulaski, Cooper & Scott Co, but, I'd give them a solid chance to win it all.

Based on their record BG is having a down year, but they have not been beaten "handily" by anyone other than SW and that includes X and CAL, who "handily" beat O. Along with close games against Franklin Co., Scott Co., and Catholic.  Not saying BG would beat O, but I can almost guarantee you they would at least be in the game in the 4th quarter.

We won't see BG until the state championship. We going to the Ship. OHS is the team this year.

Ouch 49 to 14?  Wow that would be nice.  I’ll take any win but that sounds good to me if it happens!  Teeroy’s Top Thirty says O will win 94 to 3.

Yes, that is a monster number on a good team in Greenwood.  The Gators haven't given up more than 33 all season, so maybe the 49 was a tad ambitious on my part. I just don't know if a one dimensional team can sustain drives against Owensboro's defense.  That said, even if they can pick up a few first downs and run clock, it could be hard for O to reach 49.  35-14, 42-14 is probably more probable after giving it some thought.  This offense is just so explosive!  Keep in mind, I also said the Bowling Green Graves game would be close... ?

If Greenwood wants to make Owensboro uncomfortable, there are real pathways — but they have to hit them early and consistently.

First, Greenwood must control the tempo. Owensboro is at its best when the game is fast with explosive plays. Greenwood can flip that by shortening the game with long, physical drives behind their strong offensive line and backfield. Fewer possessions means less room for Owensboro to separate.

Second, Greenwood’s front seven can create problems. They’re one of the few defenses in 5A that can win early downs and force Owensboro into 3rd-and-long. That takes the Red Devils out of their rhythm and makes them rely on execution instead of pure athleticism.

Third, Owensboro hasn’t been pushed in two months. This is not a shot against a weaker schedule outside of X, CAL, and even OC. Owensboro hasn't really had a team come out and hit them in the mouth in a while. Greenwood needs to keep the game close into the second quarter. If it stays tight, Owensboro feels pressure they haven’t faced since mid-September — and Greenwood gains confidence.

Turnovers and penalties also matter. One strip, one tipped interception, or one special teams mistake can flip the momentum instantly. We saw that from Greenwood against Bowling Green.

Bottom line: If Greenwood limits possessions, gets early stops, forces long-yardage situations, and turns this into a physical grind, Owensboro is out of its comfort zone. They should still win, but Greenwood has a real blueprint to make things interesting if they execute.

Owensboro 35 Greenwood 21

I’ll take a lower output, something like 28-7. Greenwood will make O have some stress early on which will benefit them going forward. I don’t see a clock being put on the Gators but think O handles biz.

Greenwood is a pretty good team. I could see them competing and hanging around but when it gets down to it, the Devils take care of business, 31-14..
