Lincoln County reached the second round for the first time in four years with a 49-14 victory over Perry County Central, just one year after they missed the postseason entirely after losing the final six games of 2024.  They'll match up against powerful Corbin, who have advanced to at least the third round in each of the last six seasons and have not lost in the first round since 2012.  The latest advance for the Redhounds was a 35-0 victory over Russell County on Thursday.

Corbin, champions of the 8th district, enter this game 8-3, and winners of their last five.  They closed the regular season as BGP's #7 team, spending the entire season ranked in the top ten.  Lincoln County, the 2 seed out of District 7 is 9-2, enjoying one of their best regular seasons in years, and have only lost to Franklin County and Boyle County (both top 5 teams).  This is the seventh meeting between the two teams in the last seven years, with all previous six meetings won by Corbin - only two of them, in 2019 & 2020, were decided by single digits.

Recent history points to a comfortable Corbin victory, but Lincoln County has had an outstanding season.  Can they shock the state and mix things up, or is it just another day at the office for the Redhounds?

Corbin showed some offensive inconsistencies early in the year but righted the ship for good after the nail biting loss against Johnson Central. Defensively, they have been right there with the best in the class. I don’t see Lincoln County finding the endzone more than twice, if that.

Corbin should handle things pretty well.  Lincoln has some nice skill players and their guys in the trenches on both sides of the ball are certainly not bad but they are nowhere near the O and D lines of Corbin.  Lincolns QB Foster does a good job of seeing the field and makes a lot of nice 10-25 yard throws but he will more than likely be running for his life on Friday !

Coach Jeff Jackson will have his full basketball squad at basketball practice the following Monday. Corbin wins by 3 TDs.

Corbin 35-7.

Lincoln played 3 "good teams" and went 3-0. (Danville, West Jessamine, Garrard County. )

Lincoln also played 2 "elite" teams and went 0-2 (Franklin and Boyle County), with a combined score of 82-20 in those games.

Lincoln has had a great year at 9-2, and should be very proud of that rebuild with the program.

I think Corbin is between good and elite, and it's at Corbin.

Corbin 34-6.

A lazy ball over the middle is picked off by Cam Estep and taken back 96 yards the other way to extend the Corbin lead.

20-0 Hounds
