Also, hard to argue that 2023 season opening win against a very good McNicholas might have cost the Tigers a state championship.

How's that?

A great but exhausted Beechwood Tigers team with 150 more yards of offense was beat in the last minute 31-28 by the powerful run by Starks.  BW might have been the fresher team if Mayfield had made the 6 hour bus ride.  Used the word might not to diminish Mayfield’s semi-final win over BW or their classic 5 pt championship over OCath.  They very much deserved their championship.  Just saying RPI and direction of 6 hour bus ride is annually huge.

Beechwood played NCC this year and beat them, and everyone else besides CCH and still finished 5th in the RPI.  Let’s say Mayfield ended this year as the #1 seed instead of OCatch, Beechwood would still be hitting the road to Mayfield because their district is absolutely awful, and that’s not going to change next year, so taking the safe approach this year didn’t really help any.

As far as Ryle, Highlands, Cooper go, those teams are locked into schedules next year, and the team in question has an opening week 2 of the season.

On a final note, Beechwood lost to Mayfield in 2023, because of 3 things.

1. Mayfield was a really good team

2. Beechwood struggled to run the ball

3. Beechwood struggled to stop the run

Also, if it takes you 6 hours to get to Mayfield then you must be driving Uncle Eddie’s RV, it’s about 4:30, which is still a long trip, but not even close to 6 hours.

Agree Mayfield was a great team.  BW tried to win it in the air..425 yards and abandoned the ground game when they early on found resistance.  BW stopped every Mayfield runner (total of -6 rushing yards) except Starks and he was a man out there for 225 yards.  Shortest distance is 325 miles thru Louisville.  My body requires one stop for that long and maybe a bus can do it legally in 5+ hours, pending traffic.

As far as playing an out of state elite like Elder or St. X……don’t do it.

Who said Elder or St X?!!!

There are plenty of great teams in Cincy that aren’t in the GCL!!

Correct. It is a tightrope. A loss is basically zero RPI points. It has to be a school you have a better than 50/50 chance to beat. You need the win to boost RPI.

It’s not Elder or St X, that would be asinine to schedule one of those schools.

Not a tightrope, but rather mining for pyrite.  A win (.501?) will just dilute it less than a loss .000.

With BW’s very weak district and and a repeat of play up teams having unforeseen bad seasons coupled with an out of state game, perfect recipe for the potential for one home playoff game in 2026.

The only way Beechwood has only one home playoff game in 2026, is if they don’t win their district. Which doesn’t like much of a chance of a team challenging them anytime soon in that district. So they will always have at least two home playoff games.

Stand corrected.  Thanks
