Title Town Showdown Renewal?

Featured Replies

This morning on the local radio show, Coach Justin Haddix of Boyle County discussed the Boyle JV having three open dates and being open to playing cross-town rival Danville. Recently, it was believed that Danville would not field a JV team, but recent social media posts show that they, in fact, do. Coach Haddix also pointed out on social media that JV coach Matt Bottom has reached out to Danville with no response. What do you all think should this once historic rivalry be renewed? Is the best way of seeing this game come back to a Friday night in the future by starting over at the JV level? How do we get the TITLE TOWN SHOWDOWN back on track?

Was he asked about Danville, or brought it up on his own accord?  I didn't hear the show...

I'd like to see this game renewed.  Unfortunately, Danville's implosion turned the game into a rout for the Rebels to the point that it was hurting their RPI to play it.  However, the decision to end the game was on Danville's end.  Hopefully the new regime will see the benefits of renewing the game.  I think it is good for the community and would be a nice measuring stick for the Ads as they rebuild.  So if it starts at the JV level until the Ads can get back in a better situation, I'm all for it.

I think the masses will want to see the Varsity game come back at some point, but personally think Stoney is doing fine generating buzz for his program without Boyle Co. at the moment.

Middle school still plays.  I think in a year or two the JV or Froshmore will more than likely get renewed.  If I were Stoney I would wait another year or two.  He seems to have the program pointed in the right direction.  No need to rush it.

Kentucky football is better when Danville and Boyle are both good. I hope these programs get back to where this game has value for both.

I feel confident Stonebreaker if given the reigns and the trust can get Danville back on a positive trajectory, but right now the gulf is very wide to where it will probably be at least 5 years before this rivalry makes sense for any benefit to either team.

Shouldn’t play unless or until Danville can at least become competitive again in 2A. It does neither team any good to play right now Boyle would just beat their brains out.

I think the Lincoln game is a good one for Danville right now.  Although, not in the same county it's a border game and will generate a ton of excitement.  I expect Death Valley to be full house for that one in a few weeks if both teams handle business leading into it.

I agree.  Until Danville can compete and give Boyle some value in playing, I think Boyle is better off elsewhere.  Last year Boyle replaced Danville with St. Edward of Ohio and this season St. X. or Highlands will be in their spot.  Now for as of JV or Freshmen I'm all for it.

Boyle plays them in MS but not varsity or jv. I don't think JV would be punching down. The biggest question I have overall is, how can we get the rivalry back to where it was? Have to start somewhere, might as well be the JV. If Danville were to be competitive and even beat a Boyle JV, it would stand to reason that in the future, they could be on track to do the same with the varsity.

That is not really what I am saying.  I don't think the head coach of one of the top football programs in Kentucky should be putting Danville on blast because they won't play them in JV football.  It is punching down.

It's about like anyone, they only wanna play when they think they can beat you. That's why Highlands wouldn't put Boyle on the schedule cycle for 23/24, but came knocking on the door for 25/26.

I don't think playing a JV game with anyone hurts anyone, JV should be for developing kids and getting better.

Assuming Highlands comes into that game undefeated I am very excited to see what happens.

If both teams are 3-0 entering that one, it'll be electric.

Even if they aren't... it'll still be awesome. Lol
