The Crimsons come off an impressive 2024 campaign, logging a 10-2 record with wins over Saint Xavier, Fredrick Douglass, and Male.

As usual, Central begins their schedule playing up in class for an early test.

Manual won this contest last year 20-13, who will prevail this year?

RBs Cortez Stone and Justin Brents graduated for Central. Stone rushed for 1,882 yards and 30 touchdowns. Was 60% of the Yellowjackets scoring. Brents rushed for 938 yards and 9 TDs as a productive No. 2. Top receiver, starting QB, top tackler, and sacks leader all gone as well.

Interested to see how the Yellowjackets new talent looks and stacks up against a Manual squad that returns its core and has high expectations as one of the best in 6A.

Expect Manual to get the season-opening W.

I believe Central also lost six of the top eight tacklers on defense.

Should be a good start for Manual! 38-14

A shame this isn't the home opener for the Crimsons and having to play this game at Moore.

OH JCPS!!!!

I think this is a very good Manual team and the Top of 6A is as interesting as I can

recall in some time.  Bodes for a great playoff run in 6A this year!

Feels like a game that would be more competitive later in the season. Central may have lost too much to be competitive with Manual right now. This game is often a slugfest so perhaps the Jackets can force a few turnovers and grind out the Crimsons. However, I'll pick Manual 28-7.

I agree. I look for the Jackets to get worked over by a more mature Manual squad this early in the season.

Central only had 3 first downs, and 0 points on a very good Scott county defense through 3 quarters. Manual might have a better defense than Scott county. It’ll be a long night for central.

Agreed. But I believe Manual is not the only school with a field still not done.
