Owensboro will come out swinging and may hit a couple of explosive plays that turn into scores, but I expect the Tigers to wear them down as the night goes on. It’s a strong season opener either way, and both teams face tough follow up games after. The question I have is whether or not this could be a look ahead spot for Coach Wallace. With this being his “last ride” and a trip down I-65 on the horizon to the place where he won multiple state titles, I believe that could be a real possibility and one that could open up an opportunity for Owensboro.

I know very little about each team, but after the Owensboro "thread that would never end" kept me entertained for months I am really interested in how this team does under the new head coach.  I have

Knowing Coach Wallace he won't be looking ahead especially how last year season ended. I expect both teams to give their best since season opener.

After watching the Owensboro Vs. SW scrimmage, I am worried that OHS has a QB issue.  I know Ganaway is only a sophomore, but outside of a screen to Dillard, his throwing game did very little.  Teams will likely be box heavy to stop the running attack of Hampton.  Can Ganaway get the job done? Or is this another loaded Owensboro roster that fizzles out due to the inability to consistently attack teams with a good blend of a running and passing attack.  Only time will tell.....

A seasoned veteran no doubt, but we’re also human. Likewise I have the same sort of respect for Coach and what he’s accomplished, but that statement can’t be echoed by everyone in the Bowling Green community and he knows that. Which is why I had to pose the question.

Is Ganaway Jr a SO or JR?  The roster on Riherds says SO.  The roster on MaxPreps says JR.  I believe the initial talk was he was a JR.  Anyone know for sure?

Owensboro has some other guys on the team that can play QB IMO.  Ashley the LB is a terrific QB, but likely wouldn't get recruited their at the next level moreso than LB.  Then the younger Bene threw an absolute dart in the extra time scrimmage vs South.

So there are options for O, but at some point you make decisions and go with them.  We'll see how that goes Friday night at X.

Can't wait to go to that one!!!

Might wanna go back and watch the mayfield a scrimmage. The 2 hand touch aspect really limited him in the SW scrimmage. Ganaway throws a nice ball imo.

That is fair.  Even I got annoyed with the quick whistle in the SW scrimmage.  We shall see how things go tomorrow night for the new qb running the show. I am excited to see how Coach Barnes utilizes all of the pieces.

Me too Mr. Giggles.  The two hand touch/weird whistles have me yelling get off my lawn, lol!

Tigers stepping up with their graphics this season!

They are trying out new company that does graphics for teams and started with fall sports and if it goes well will use them for all sports.

Two teams I expect to have great seasons!  I just feel X's offense will be a little more successful on Friday. As if X loads the box to stop Hampton, can O respond to that.  I think that's a lot to ask at this point of the season, but I expect both teams to play well.  Both have good defenses.

Planning to make this game on Friday!  Love St. X's stadium (sitting on the X side of course and hopefully near @Tigerpride94)!

Good luck to both teams and no injuries!

I wonder how much, if any, Owensboro will utilize Hampton as a pass catcher? They may have to move him around and find different ways to get him the ball other than handing it off a few yards behind the line of scrimmage. It's going to be tough sledding running into the teeth of X's defense and the waiting arms of Karsten Busch, but if you're Owensboro you want Hampton touching the ball often. As noted in the watchlist, he can catch the ball. That's something to look for.

I would like the Devils' chances more if this were Week 11. I think the defense can make a game of it this early in the season, but ultimately Harbin, Busch, and X's overall numbers will prove too much to overcome.

I'll take the Tigers by two scores.
