Final. Congratulations to the Warhawks first title in just their 6th season as a program. Bowling Green never quit they were down 24 early in the 3rd quarter and I think they got it down to 8. Congrats to the Purples on a great season and their attempt to get the rare double state titles in football and basketball falls just 1 game short.

A big game by UK signee Malachi Moreno with 24 points on 10-11 shooting and 15 rebounds and 3 blocks. Vince Dawson had 18 points and Richardson had 15 points. The Purples were led in the loss by Kadyn Carpenter with points. Jace Wardlow had 13, Joe Hurt had 11, and Deuce Baliey had 10.

Great Crossing leads by as many as 24 but has to endure some tense moments later on, as Bowling Green got it as close as six in the final quarter, and not at the very end either - relatively early in the quarter.  But the Warhawks hold on for their first state title.

Congratulations to both squads on a memorable tournament showing!

Congrats Great Crossing!  Fantastic basketball team.

Congrats Bowling Green, gamers!

https://go.prepspin.com/ did a fantastic job!

I thought all the announcers were good and the KHSAA ran a tight ship.

Great basketball season.

Congratulations to GC. The best team with the best player won the biggest trophy. Well done Warhawks.

I feel like this could’ve been last years tourney.

Congratulations Great Crossings on a great Championship run!

But I'm SO proud of the Purples who never quit.  They refused to go away and battled to the end.  Just kept hoping a few more shots would fall, but that's the way the game goes.

I'll remember this team for a long time!  Thanks for the memorable run!  Getting to go and be there for that Ashland comeback ranks up there for me.  Great Senior Class!

And thanks to @DragonFire for such great work this season covering the 4th Region.  He's the best there is in the 4th Region!  Thanks!

Go Purples!

Great Crossing, playing their third game in 24 hours and without their starting point guard, played only six in the game. Bowling Green only slightly exceeded that, playing seven. But they’re seventh only played two minutes. Some iron men out there.

Great grit by both teams!

Overall, I thought it was a good tournament with some really good games one possession games.

The 2025 UK HealthCare Boys’ Basketball Sweet 16® concluded on Saturday inside Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center in Lexington.

Great Crossing earned its first state championship in school history.

Congrats to Great Crossing!

Great Crossing finishes 35-4 with their only loss in Kentucky to St. X and won their last 27 straight games. They never lost a game in 2025. Their closest postseason games came in the semifinals and finals of the 11th region tournament where they defeated Bryan Station by 3 at 59-56 and in the finals vs. Frederick Douglass, they won that one by 2 at 59-57.

So proud of the purples. No one expected them to be here and they gave their all. I will miss watching all 6 of them. Have to give credit to where the program has come in last 20 years.
