Archbishop Moeller Crusaders ⚔️

2024 Outcome: 14-2, lost to Olentangy Liberty in the OHSAA Division I Finals 

2025 Outlook: After spending the majority of last season as a favorite to add to their decorated trophy case, "Mighty Moe" stumbled in the state finals. 

Blood doesn't get any more blue in Ohio than what courses through the Crusaders. With Highlands alum and former Lexington Catholic coach Bert Bathiany at the helm, look for Moeller to reload for another run to Canton. 

The bad news first…. Over 1,500 pounds will need replacing in the trenches between the loss of all five offensive linemen and two anchors of the defensive front.

Kentucky has spent a lot of time in the halls of Archbishop Moeller, as evidenced by Ponatoski and teammates Cooper McCutcheon, Sam Hamilton, and Patrick O'Brien all receiving offers from the Cats. 

Between the two of them, McCutcheon and Hamilton (both in the 6’4”, 220-230 range) hold additional offers from the likes of Texas A&M, Duke, Pitt, WVU, Minnesota, and Georgia Tech. They'll form an imposing duo of pass catchers and blockers from their tight end positions. 

O'Brien will be a first year starter on the o-line as a junior next season, but he's rounding into a top prospect at 6'5" and 265 lbs.

Trinity is the game of interest for the BGP crowd, but the schedule is loaded, as you'd expect. Aside from the Shamrocks, Moeller will go toe-to-toe with….

Roman Regins nephew plays for Moeller. I believe he plays dline or linebacker.

Oh wow!  I didn't know that but I knew he had family in this area because I sat right by them for one of the WWE events when I had really good seats.

He was a Sophomore Koa Anoai #96 same # Roman wore when he played football. He received a Iron man reward for being one of the strongest.

St. X plays Moeller at freshman and JV level so I always look at how the varsity does. Based on seeing them the last couple of years at frosh/JV level they basically reload each year.

Did Moeller win all those games against X on the lower levels?

I like the threads for out of state teams that play Ky schools. Keep tabs on them for the season. Should make for interesting conversations between games.

Moeller won frosh game last year which was one of two St. X losses. St.X JV had to cancel last year due to team illness. St. X JV won the year before in close game.

Trinity gets them up there in Week 3. Should be a great game.

Mt. Carmel is a powerhouse program in Illinois. I can’t wait to see how Moeller does! Especially since they got a 6’8 OL transfer from Taft.

I am just the messenger with this one, VoR.  With that said, when he gets to Kentucky hopefully he plays like the #1 QB.  However, on 9/5 I want it to be all Shamrocks, all the time!
