Open Job: Eastern

Lafayette has been to the dance within the last 10 years. Lost to male in 2015.

Went twice, losing to Male in 2015 and Trinity in 2016. Then they absolutely cratered, not unlike Eastern did after 2011 and 2012. My point was the other schools on the list haven't had those precipitous falls; why does a school like Eastern (and also Lafayette, I guess) struggle to compete in the highest class when their enrollment is such as it is?

Facilities for one...also do a Google search on JCPS rankings...

Eastern should be a top flight school for the state but, alas...

The KHSAA REALLY needs to implement a promotion/relagation process. Relying solely on the number of boys in the school for classification is so outdated.

Eastern is a perfect candidate for relegation to 5A with the likes of Bullitt Central, Jeffersontown, Seneca and Atherton. Schools like this need a “cycle or two” in a lower class to reboot their program and then get promoted back to the higher class as the program becomes stronger.

Well, the other public schools in Lexington have all fallen as well with the exception of Bryan Station.  Coincidence that Lafayette absolutely cratered after 2016 and I think Frederick Douglass opened soon after?  I think you also have to look at coaching stability.  The top programs in the state, regardless of enrollment, don't have new head coaches every 2 to 3 years.  When you see schools that do have new head coaches every 2 to 3 years, something is wrong.  Most coaches won't come out and say it, but it's usually an administration problem or lack of support in some fashion or another.

As for Eastern, there are 3 high schools that sit just off of Shelbyville Rd in Louisville and Eastern is one of them.  They are sandwiched between CAL and Trinity with CAL being closer to the east and Trinity being a little further west.  Between that and again, coaching stability and I think that's part of Eastern's issues.

When is the announcement being made public? Any idea of names who interviewed? I know of one name.

Not sure how much truth but I have heard two big names floating around. Jamie Reed (former South Oldham coach) and Adrian Morton (former Ballard coach). Either one of those guys would be home-run hires for the Eagles.

I would think one of these would be a bluff as Coach Reed took an admin role last year! I could be wrong. I imagine the second option there is the guy! Hated seeing him step down at Ballard.
