PT (12-0) DeSales (9-3)

They have one common opponent for the season and both of those games were played in November. DeSales lost to John Hardin 35-14, Tilghman defeated them 49-14.

Important for PT is LB Jimmy Mooney and WR Avery Thompson returned last night from injury and both made an impact. They needed them to be able to make a run.

DeSales defeated North Oldham in the 2nd round 39-29 after losing to them early in the season 54-23. Nice turnaround for the Colts.

DeSales averages 214.1 passing ypg and 103.9 ypg on the ground. PT goes for 319.5 ypg in the air and 136.5 on the ground. Tilghman's defense has allowed 8.3 ppg on the year compared to DeSales allowing 19 per game even. 

What does DeSales have to do in order to go on the road and pull off the upset? John Hardin had a great game plan of playing keep away, which is great if you are ahead, but they played from behind and hurt themselves by using so much time. Does DeSales pull out the stops and bring in a few new packages to throw the PT defense off, I know I'd at least give it a shot.

Coach Jackson has done a fantastic job getting DeSales back to a competitive level. But PT is at another level than that. A long round trip bus ride for the Colts to take a thumping. 

Just some interesting stats leading up to the game. Martels Carter, for as dominant as he can be, has been used extremely sparingly lately. 

During his last 6 games he's played in, he has 3 carries for 69 yards ( .5 carries and 11.5 ypg ) and 15 catches for 219 yards ( 2.5 catches for 36.5 ypg).

If Tilghman wins tomorrow, I would expect all that to change drastically in the next game. His workload is sure to increase, but how will the very limited offensive snaps affect him? Will be interesting to see.

Beating North Oldham was huge for the trajectory of the DeSales program. They were in a similar spot last year and lost to Spencer County. The win over North proved the Colts are in the top 10-15 range of Class 4A. However, the gap between the back half of the top ten and those at the top is wide. I can't see this game being close but I really like the future for DeSales.
