  • Thanks so much for the updates @Tigerpride94!  You are a true ambassador for St. Xavier and Kentucky High School Football.

  • Probably don’t play a tough enough schedule.    Sorry, I just had to.  I’m not surprised at all with the win, but the running clock - yes.

They don't come any better than Tpride94! Loyal, supportive, objective. Thanks TP94!

I would like to know from the X folks why the Tigers seemed like such a different team the second half of the season. Something internal going on?

Good question but the coaching staff and returning players need to review what went wrong because rather than improving they looked like they got worse. The defense really hasn't been great all season but the offense seemed to regress.

The big difference is the ability to pass the ball effectively that they did not have in 2006. Pass rush is also far superior this year, and Jacob Savage is a force on both sides of the ball.

Couldn’t agree more.

It is tough to win without controlling the line of scrimmage. Finesse does not win in November.

Congrats to Ryle, huge win!

I do think X had some injuries late in the season that hampered their progress

But they still have enough kids to plug in others.

The thing that shocked me the most about them was the line was just very, very average

And honestly the QB play was inconsistent. Those two together...will hurt an offense.

X's lack of physicality isn't  for lack of big  strong kids who are physical or who could be taught to hit. The same problem was evident at the end of last year. Trinity manhandle X then and Ryle did tonight especially  X's o-line. It is maddening to watch. KIds who can hit didn't suddenly stop enrolling at St. X. Teach the kids to line up and hit somebody and drive block..

Was not at all surprised by the win but was certainly surprised by the running clock. Ryle set the tone from the get go and dominated. Congrats to the Raiders on a HUGE win!

Impressive win Ryle!  No reason to stop here!  Good luck in the next round!

3rd year in a row that St. X has lost in the 2nd round. Knocked out by Male, Trinity, and now Ryle. Rough 3 year stretch since the championship in 2021. QB Mason Trimble, WR/RB Marlon Harbin, and WR Lucas Shelton return on offense. On defense LB Karsten Busch, LB Luka Bentz, and LB Ben Pinkston return. Guys they will have to build around. The freshman class was very good so I see some of those guys making an impact. 1st goal needs to be to beat Manual so don't finish 2nd in the district last two years which sets you up for a very tough 2nd round opponent. Last year went 8-4 and this year 7-5. The program is on a bad trajectory so need to get it turned around next season.

Best entrance I've seen at a HS game. Cannon plus fireworks.

This is a great question. This group was consistently inconsistent all year. At times early in the season they looked like a top team at other times they looked like an average team...very odd. Unfortunately, this team peaked against Trinity, and as stated by many this team struggled at the line of scrimmage. Major holes on the OL, not physical enough at the defensive line. Ryle was significantly bigger than X in the trenches and they controlled the line of scrimmage. Many St. X fans used the Bowling Green game as an outliner, and I'm sure that was just wishful thinking but in reality, that was who this team was the second half of the season. Struggled to block on offense, unable to tackle and make stops on defense. Disappointing season for the Tigers for sure.

Another great photo.May be an image of 8 people, people playing football and text
