Bracken has played really well as of late… but I’m sticking with Somerset. I think they win a close one 28-21… but I would not be surprised to see Bracken pull the upset.

Massey Predictions.  I thought it would be closer than that.  But I guess Somerset will win by a touchdown. 

Just tried to analyze why Bracken Co. is not favored by Massey, Calpreps, etc.  Just can’t see it.  In season long stats Bracken is in top handfull of teams, both offensive and defensive.  Somerset not so.  Their only common opponent was Owen Co. that Bracken handled a little more convincingly with a running clock.  RPI even favors Bracken (despite 4 District wins against weak teams).  Just thinking Polar Bears ground game will be too much for Someset and Briarjumpers line will not be up to BC’s pressure on QB.

Further research revealed 2nd common opponent.  Somerset had a running clock on Leslie Co. while Bracken did not (51-27)..  Hmmmm, still thinking the Polar Bears.

Give me the Polar Bears in an upset! Tarter for 150 on the ground.

Agree….at least 150.  Maybe 3 rushing TDs.  How about another pick-6 to go along with his other 5?  Polar Bears not an easy out for sure as their D is catching up with their ground game.

Somerset has a much higher strength of schedule and has four wins that are better than Bracken County's best win.

IMO Bracken isn’t as good as Breathitt County, and Somerset beat Breathitt. So for me I also see Somerset as the favorite in this one. With that said it is the playoffs and Bracken has that strong running game. If they can keep that up and control the clock. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bracken won.

I don't think you can put much emphasis on a margin of victory comparison in a running clock game. Somerset was up 35-0 at halftime. With a running clock the entire second half it was pretty much all subs and JV playing.  The game against Leslie County was 42-7 at the half, so it was a running clock the entire second half as well.  

Just thinking the Brooksville country boys ?(pop. 652) will not backdown from the Somerset BriarJumpers (pop. 12,000+).   Maybe not David vs Goliath, but definitely “young/never been there before vs traditional powerhouse”.  Go Polar Bears!
