Isn't the Boyd County PD now history? I thought I saw that the New Judge Executive disbanded that agency and will now rely on the Boyd County Sheriff's office to police the County? I could be wrong.

 

Another good win for the Tomcats comming down the stretch leading into March. But its time to go back to work for this squad if we hope to make it to Morehead.

 

Yes, the student section was great but maybe we could come up with an original participation cheer since the rollercoaster and punch out has already been done. Maybe a swing or a vine swing:D I'm sure the leaders of this student section can come up with one or two:thumb:

Im back, but not in the same capacity. I pledge to do my best to shy away from any trash talking, bickering, mud slinging, and stick to comments only about what happens on the basketball court or football field. you are correct...and the BCSD will be out in full force at the games. I have seen around 9 or 10 of them at the last few home games. Much needed improvement I think. :D

What I would like to know is how to account for the turnaround in the Tomcats - to go from losing by a basket to beating the same team by 16.

 

When Ashland played in Maysville early on, I thought that the team in maroon looked like football players playing basketball. Have they gotten their "basketball legs"? Did it take a while to learn and buy into Coach Biggs' system? Are there guys playing now for Ashland that didn't play in the first APB-BC matchup; or were there guys playing for Boyd earlier in the year that aren't now?

I think you nailed it with this one. At the start of the season I stated that I thought the Tomcats would start a little sluggish but would be as good as anyone in the region by years end. Anytime a new coach comes in, with a completely new system, it takes some time to make things gel. I think that's what your starting to see now. Buddy Biggs has brought this program back to life. It appears that the 'warning' from GIAT was well deserved, though he caught a lot of flac for it early in the season.

Agreed, I think the Tomcats are now settling into the new coaching format. They have earned "threat" status. and, As for the Lions....I'm concerned. They are not playing with the tenacious spirit we saw in the beginning of the season. I only hope it's a phase and they "rebound" to remain a top contender in the 16th.

I think there are a few reasons that account for Ashland's recent success.

1. They are comfortable in the new system.

2. Their confidence is growing game by game.

3. Balanced scoring. Ashland has consistently had 3 or 4 players score in double figures over the last month. That was not the case early on.

4. The team is shooting 50% on the season, ranked in the top 10 in the state.

5. Coach Biggs. He has completely changed the attitude around Ashland basketball.

Ashland out rebounded the Lions 41-27 and got timely 3 pointers from 5 different players. Same players for both teams. For the Lions-CD Mayhew got 2 fouls early in the game and didn't see the floor again til the second half but managed 7 pts and 2 rebounds. Justin Selby was held to 4 pts in the first half but ended the game with 12 pts and 12 rebounds. Casey Branham was the high scorer for the Lions with 19 not sure of his rebounds but no more than 2. Billy Blanton had 12 points not sure of his rebounds but again no more than 2. Despite the score the game was interesting. There were four ties in the first 5 minutes of the game. The score was 64-56 with 3 minutes to go in the 4th quarter then Ashland hit their next 10 shots.
