I assume you have never seen the Cov Cath student section.

 

 

Heaven forbid someone compliment Ashland or their students without someone trying to degrade the compliment.

Maybe we should have some kind of a "student section" tournament to settle this issue snce it has become so popular on here. :lol: I first noticed it when Russell fans were complaining about the Ashland student section - then it was brought up, again between te RH and Ashland fans and now between te BC and Ashland fans along with Cov. Cath's fans.

Whose idea was it to TRY to move the student section anyway? Ashland's AD or Boyd's AD? One kid told his uncle that he was told that if they did not move, they would be kicked out of the game! Administration from neither school had a right to move anyone. They all had a general admission ticket like most everyone in the gym. I think all this commotion had a part in the Boyd's student section being so quiet.

 

 

When I was in school, the Ashland administration actually had us move a portion of our student section during a BC game. It wasn't a problem to any of us because truth be told, it was a bad situation waiting to happen.

The Boyd Co. student section was asked to move b/c the Ashland administration did not want both student sections standing across from each other. So most of the students just stayed seated where they were until the whole conflict was resolved. They were told not to chant anything derogative and I think that's a big reason of why the student section was quiet the whole night. It's very unfortunate, b/c the Ashland section was chanting some very inappropriate chants, and no one stopped them.

 

Thats sad that when you take out derogative chants out of Boyd County's Student section, they dont say anything.

This is what happened exactly. On the visitors side (Boyds) straight across from Boyds bench about the first 6 or 7 rows had a piece of paper on them marked Boyd student secetion. Which nobody sat in until almost game time. When Boyds students came in and sat where they always have for years, then adults started filling that marked off section up(prime seats nobody was setting in and side was starting to fill up, large crowd) then someone from Ashland administration told Boyd administration to move their students. Thus upsetting both students and adults who where asked to move. You are correct about the law and the moon situation. I wondered why that sudden warm feeling on the back of my neck, now I know the mooner was behind me. By the way this was a 8pt. game with 3 min. to play and I thought Ashlands student section was really a big boost when Boyd made that run there in the 4th. Most of the time I dont think home court is that big of a deal, but this year with the region being so balanced I think it means the difference between a W & L.

 

 

Nice post bobbyearl. I think both student sections should be accross from each other as it has been for many many years. When Ashland plays at Boyd however, they always sit on the opposite end. Ashlands student section was great accept for the GSA chant, and the couple of guys who tried to start a fight.(Saw that with my own two eyes)There is no point in that. Enjoy the rivalry students.....you will have that same feeling when your older and have special memories of that. Dont cloud it with trash. Your m:thumb: emories of your high school days should be great memories.

Congrats to Coach Biggs and the Tomcats. I told you Ashland fans you would like Buddy. He is a class guy and a first rate coach. Good luck the rest of the year. I guess the students section is really into it as well thats, great for a school and a community.

Good to see the Tomcat basketball program get on a roll. Ashland is slowing solidifying itself as one of the teams to beat in the region once again. Congrats to Coach Biggs on getting these kids to buy into his program and its also great to hear about Ashland's fan support :thumb: in this big win over our big archrival.

OK OK OK, to all Ashland fans posting on here..... YOU have a awesome staff, team, cheering section, administration, student section, gym, concession stand, bleachers, uniforms, posture, coaching, warm-up suits, sound system, scoreboard, etc, etc, etc.....

I dont think anyone is taking anything from you guys, you are too touchy....You have a great ball team, so enjoy it. Plus it shouldnt surprise anyone that the Administration there comes up with something off the wall to screw things up....I know, I know...once back in 1970 something we did something wrong too right????

 

Let the kids be kids and student sections be student sections and let your boys rejoice in their win...Ashland has a quality team....:thumb:

You forgot to mention Ashland's state titles AND they won a national championship in 1645 when they defeated the all star team led by Columbus and Julius Ceasar. : )

 

All kidding aside, anyone who follows Kentucky High School basketball knows all about the Ashland Tomcats and all those darn titles they have won hanging on the wall. : )

After Selby made a layup, they chanted "he's still fat."

 

They did that on multiple occasions last night.

I have only been to Ashland's gym one time for a great game with Boyd Co. I didn't know about the National Championship in 1927 or whatever year it was. I remember reading an article about that "National Championship" and how it came to be.

 

Don't remember any of those details as of today, but congrats to the CATS! : )
