I think the Murray State game is terrible. If UofL wants to gain some national respect they should have agreed to take a better game even if it was a one shot deal on the road. I'm sure a number of powerhouse teams would have agreed to that.

It is a loss of dollars the school refuses to take. I am not disagreeing with you, as a fan I want better competition, but I can also see the Athletic departments side as well only agreeing to play at another schools home is a loss of dollars with little real gain for the Cards at this point. I mean it is one of those things, Louisville would have to go undefeated to have a shot at a title game anyways and even then it would be a long shot because they are in the Big East. So even though I wish they could find an oppenent that would play them home and home, they can't, and then I wish they would just find someone to play them anywhere, but they want the cash and I understand that with the new Arena and Stadium expansion coming on line.

 

Also we could be selling the OOC schedule short, UK is a bowl winner and looks to be getting better every year, Utah is a Bowl winner, MTSU went to a bowl, NCState has a new coach that could fire them up, with a few wins in the weak ACC that game may not look so bad. And if the Big East keeps up it's winning ways with the good bowl season there could be three or four ranked teams on Louisville schedule.

From what I've been told, some of the mighties said they would play Louisville if Louisville came to them with no return game...Jurich does not believe in that tactic anymore...I don't know if I agree or not, but that's the case.

 

They may regret not doing that in 2007 for no other reason than to add a little beef to a schedule badly in need of fortification. I would rather play Michigan or LSU or USC on the road and watch it on TV than go to PJCS to see us play Murray State.

No matter what you want to think, the schedule works AGAINST UK.

 

Louisville will have had two tuneup games, but will have been gameplanning for the Cats the whole time. There's no Miami on the OOC schedule this year to dilute that gameplanning attention, either. Until BE play starts, UK is the season. Not to mention the fact that UK will probably be ranked by the third week of the season so they won't be sneaking up on Louisville.

 

 

Don't know why you thought that, but after you have followed football awhile, it will dawn on you that this year doesn't mean anything next year. But, it might cause UL to be overconfident, like you are. Glad to see it though, it makes an upset more likely.

wow, you do understand that we have ZERO effect on the Cards' football team? Come on brother....the coaches do an outstanding job of keeping this team focused...and with a healthy Brian Brohm, the Cats have about a 5% chance of winning.

First of all, FSU played LSU 4 times to get 1 return visit back in the 80s. By the time the series was over a trip to the Orange Bowl was on the line that game. You might have noticed how far UofL dropped after the Rutgers loss. UofL is the only BCS bowl winner to drop in the rankings after their WIN. I'd say they still have something to prove in the eyes of some folks that matter. Whatever happened to the "anybody, anywhere" claims?

In a disappointing fashion, Louisville has finally secured their last opponent of 2007, and it is Murray State, they tried Indiana, every team in the ACC, one other Big Ten school, two SEC schools, etc......very disappointing. Good or bad thing, depending on how you look at it, the only way that I see them making the championship anytime soon, is if they go undefeated no matter who they play.

5 - Utah (might be flipped with MTSU)

Does it seem odd to you that both the SEC and the Big Ten sent two teams to the BCS while Rutgers got bumped all the way down to something called the "Texas Bowl". The Big East still doesn't demand the respect that the other BCS conferences do (I'm not saying its right). Playing anybody, anywhere may be dead, but there isn't ant future in building your team around playing 1AA schools either. UofL should remove the chip from their shoulder and hit the road for a big-time game. Go play a good football team from a recruiting hotbed. I'm sure Central Florida would be a better game than MSU. JMO.

In the last 2 Bowl seasons, the Big East has proven they are back to their old strength. If UofL or WVU would have gone undefeated they would have been the opponent for OSU in the NC. That's respect.

Rutgers and WVU both would have had excellent shots at a BCS bowl if they had lost only one game.

A lack of respect is not UofL's problem as far as scheduling goes, in fact it's just the opposite.
