A lot of schools get 5 star recruits, but they usually don't come in and contribute right away. Besides, jury is still out on the MLB anyway, figuratively and literally. Your still setting yourself up for a letdown, in my opinion.
January 27, 200719 yr Author Willie Williams and Woodnye Turreane are both going to be at UL, and as incoming JUNIORS I would look for them to contribute by game 3 for sure.

January 27, 200719 yr Yes it is...U of L is returning MOST of a team that beat UK by 31 points last season....AND UL should be even better on both sides of the ball in 2007...that's scary. Last year means nothing, as you will see after you follow football for a while...and should be better doesn't mean anything either...UL is in for a dog fight in Lexington next season, and I love it that their fans don't seem to realize it...UL is not a very good road team either...:sssh:

Losing Okoye and Anderson will be big losses on the DL. The same can be said for Foster and Quarterman on the OL. Plus you lose Gay, Smart and Sharp from the defensive backfield and Smith and Taylor from the offensive backfield. Finally, Nate Harris and Abe Brown are gone from the linebacking core. You know UL football better than me, but how many of those guys were at least 2 year, if not 3 or 4 year starters?

Since, that's the case, let me ask you this, how do we (as fans) come to a conclusion about this upcoming season...put all things aside (from last season), U of L has better players all across the spectrum than UK.....Kentucky's ONLY advantage is homefield...I bet that doesn't bode well... As far as Louisville on the road, they are 23-11 on the road in the last 5 seasons, this senior class is 15-5 on the road...and they are undefeated against UK....

The question mark, is 1 OL position and DB, thought the Cards feel that those spots are more than answered, it is pure speculation at this point, but I certainly don't feel that it's a stretch to think that the 2007 version of Louisville's defense will be their best by far.

I know for a flaming fact that is not true about Harris. Even if he did 'start' a few early he was pulled pretty durn quick. He didn't own the position till late last year. He also didn't start every game this year, Lamar Myles stole a few. I was wrong about Sharp (who moved around on position, that's what messed me up) and Quarterman, but not Gay or Foster. I know Foster missed for injury, but he still wasn't a starter last year. And Gay started off and on. You listed 11 guys. Only 4 of them could be called consistant 2 year starters. Especially since a few of them didn't even consistantly start this year.

It may be me, but I thought UL blitzed more this year than they evere have. I think that may account for the sack increase. Harris led the team in tackles this year and was second as a junior. If he was "splitting time," he sure made the most of it. You may be right. All I'm saying is UL is losing a lot of key contributors, and it seems to me, the leaders of the defense. I just think if you say UL is going to be better next year, you have to objectively look at the gaps that need to be filled. You guys follow UL much more closely than I, but as we all know, it's a lot harder to replace multiple year players, than one year starters.
