No, but sometime you have to look at the evidence and think critically. It’s each man’s word against the other. No witnesses back up the story that he was dragged. The smell test isn’t there that he was dragged - we do have video of him sprinting after the car after he was supposedly dragged 40 feet. He ran quite well for someone who supposedly just endured that type of trauma. No one in those videos reacted like they just saw someone get dragged like that. Not even other officers. At some point you have to look at the whole situation and say “That doesn’t add up.”

Not to mention a demonstrated history of embellishing charges.

I may have missed it but if we are going to debate this I need to know, where are you getting 40 feet from?  Did Gillis claim he was dragged for 40 feet or is that just some made up number?

No video, but multiple eye witnesses didn’t corroborate his story that he was dragged.

Those are just two defense attorney talking points. 

Like I mentioned earlier, I want to see the witness statements.  We do know from the initial ESPN reporter that Gillis "at one point, according to Darlington, Gillis attached himself to the side of Scheffler's car."  So we actually do have corroboration that Gillis was attached to Scheffler's car.

Also, no one has explained the injuries to Gillis' knees and wrists, or the damage to his uniform pants.  Do you (everyone) think the Gillis is lying about the injuries/damage too and somehow he was able to put that lie over on everyone and maintain that lie to this day?

On the charges being dropped, the powers that be clearly didn't want to prosecute a case they knew was going to make them look bad and they were going to lose.

Who knows what the injuries are/were. He lied about being dragged. Maybe he fell and "hurt" himself, which is why he ran up to the car and basically jumped in the window. 

The prosecutors are not going to drop the case if he was legitimately dragged and they had proof, regardless of how it may make them look. There's no logic in that. If Scheffler committed a crime and they had proof, they would pursue the charges. He was over-charged, there was no proof to sustain the charges, and they were dropped.

But what happened before what we saw, and was what we saw the first interaction or the second interaction?  

You can say "who knows" about the injuries but that doesn't help explain anything.  If there are injuries/damage it happened somehow and that remains unanswered other than what Gillis states that no one has refuted Gillis on that point. 

On the prosecutors, don't get it twisted, some prosecutors can't stand police officers and they will drop charges in an instant if they think it is in their best interests.

If he was "injured" somehow, it was not from being dragged by Scheffler's car. Why does it matter how they occurred if it wasn't from the story the cop told?

If I were a prosecutor, I would hate lying cops too. Most people should.

What would you be looking for in the witness statements?

He should have been fired before this incident, and with the lack of using his body camera and eye witness statements saying he lied about being dragged, there's no way he should keep his job.

To the bold, I'm sorry, but if this were true, there wouldn't be so many bad ones.

I've never understood it. They claim to only have "a few bad apples," yet they can't get rid of them? 

Seems like that would be pretty easy to do if the 99.9% of "good cops" really wanted it done.

Well, I think we all know from the video of Gillis beating on the vehicle how he got the wrist injury.

I'd have thought that the LMPD would have released pictures of the injuries & torn pants when they released the videos that they "thought" were going to help their case.
