Beechwood was also missing 4 of their main contributors from this years squad in that game so I guess the only things we have is a freshman game with multiple current players from both teams not playing in the game that Beechwood absolutely beat the brakes off of Cooper and a “SCRIMMAGE”.  Scrimmage, did you say scrimmage?  You really talkin about a scrimmage?  Like I said before there are a lot of big school NKY coaches glad to not have Beechwood on their schedule this year.

Arguing and making excuses about a scrimmage from last season? It must be dead period. Fall can’t come soon enough!

Clay Hayden has been invited to the Elite 11 regional competition, I'm guessing in Columbus on April 21st. One of the state's top quarterbacks gets a chance to show he's also one of the best in t

Beechwood WR/RB/DB Luke Erdman won the state championship yesterday in the 100 meter, the 200 meter and the 4 x 100 relay.  He set new school records and almost broke the all time class A state record

Seems like there are more college coaches visiting Beechwood than ever before.    Kudos to Coach Volker for making it a priority!

There is that word again scrimmage ha ha…  In all seriousness I hope Cooper has a great season this year.  I know Austin Alexander and his family and they are absolutely great people.  Nothing would make me happier than to see NKY teams playing in and winning state championships.  I also agree with you that there are 4-5 really good football teams in NKY this season that all have a shot at a state championship.  Obviously Boyle and Trinity are going to make it hard in 4A and 6A but 2A and 5A are definitely winnable.  I look forward to the season and keeping up with all the NKY players and teams.

The funny thing is a varsity scrimmage from last year is still is a lot more telling than a freshman game three years ago that barely involved any current players? Other than that I agree with the rest of your post lol.

If you are Coach Volker it also has the added benefit of putting yourself on the radar of Ohio athletic directors and principals.

I have heard Elder graduate Jay Volker's name mentioned by several GCL know-it-alls plus a former Lakota school district administrator when it comes to the future direction of high school football in southwest Ohio. Based on wages, alone, anyone at Beechwood who isn't prepared for Volker to head back across the pond eventually is burying their head in the sand.

Maybe the superintendent can give up some of his pay to keep Volker around?

What the superintendent has done on the Beechwood campus will impact students long, long after he is gone. When this current project finishes, Beechwood's campus will be second to none.

Beechwood will undoubtedly be one of the top educational campuses in Kentucky when the current project finishes. From the aspect of athletics on campus, though, I would say Beechwood only ranks among in the top quarter of schools in the state. Quite a few schools in Kentucky have better athletic facilities. The highest tier schools have on-campus pools, and I'm not sure how many of those there are in Kentucky or the Cincinnati area, but they're  definitely few and far between. Beechwood does have a lot of things in terms of athletics, including a fieldhouse and turf baseball and softball fields, but their athletic stadium has no track, the stands are frequently overflowing during games, and the press box is woefully small.

From an all-around campus standpoint, give me Cincy St. X or Louisville X over Beechwood's campus any day of the week. And even without pools on campus, I would rank the McCracken Co, South Warren, Douglass and Great Crossing campuses all above Beechwood's.

What about Anderson's campus in Cincy?

I can tell you one thing, the buildings at Beechwood aren’t what made it special. Gotta be able to retain people on the inside.

My campus comment was focused on the educational side.

Great athletic facilities in most areas but not in a couple areas - track and swimming. Although I think there is only one school in all of N. Ky. that has a pool.

My understanding is football/soccer field stands, press box, etc. are next on the upgrade list.

I believe the gym just got upgraded.

Do you think the campus, even when what your talking about is complete at its fullest will be enough for Volker to put in a tenure like Rash and Yeagle?

What is the current project at Beechwood?  Rebuilding of classrooms in the front?

And those saying Beechwood has academic campus/facilities second to none really need to get to more schools in the area to see what they offer.

This right here.  It's the staff and supporting community at schools that make them special.

Did the campus facilities have anything to do with the tenure of Rash, Yeagle or Barre? I don't understand what you are asking.

I'm not looking to expand this discussion in this thread, but could you provide some examples please? Just a couple school names are enough.
