Alabama 27 Auburn 24

Featured Replies

As someone with an extremely vested interest in Alabama losing, that was incredibly frustrating.  Auburn threw it away.  The muffed punt was terrible.  But as bad as that was, it was the decision to rush only two guys on 4th and Goal from the 31 and to SPY THE QUARTERBACK in that situation with another one that lost them the game.  You absolutely cannot fail to pressure the quarterback in that situation.

Are we absolutely sure Auburn understood the rules and stuff?

That sequence is the kind that can propel Bama to another title…

If I'm Kirby I don't let my players see any of this game, they'll get way too over confident seeing how bad Alabama played today.

Thank you. Teams on every level rush 2 or 3 in those long Hail Mary situations. I have always said teams should rush 4 or 5. Get to the QB before the receivers even get to the end zone.

That ending is what separates the good/mediocre teams from the great teams. I know Alabama and Auburn has been known for some finishes but how was that receiver left that open for the last touchdown? Credit Alabama for getting it done.

Pressure the QB and it doesn't happen.

He wasn't open. The DB was right there with him. It was a jump ball between the two of them and the Bama WR won.

The big problem in that situation is that the DB should keep everything in front of him and he turned his back to the QB and never saw the ball coming until it was to late.

PI would have been OK for the DB as well...can't let the ball be caught under any circumstances. But I understand they practice every day to NOT commit Pass Interference and it's hard to change that mindset in a split second.

I feel like he couldn’t have even interfered at that point if he wanted to. He had enough separation after the light shove to get space.

It would have been an auto first as well. Better than giving up a TD, of course.
