5️⃣ 5A RPI updated for Week 8 ~

Highlands remains at the top and South Warren, idle last week, slides in as the new number two.

The previous Top 10 finished 7-1 on Thursday and Friday nights. Collins was also on a BYE week.

Changes from last week:

2. South Warren; +1

3. Southwestern; -1

5. North Laurel; +2

6. Bowling Green; +2

7. Owensboro; +2

8. Greenwood; -3

Newcomer: 9. Atherton; +2

Dropped out: 11. South Oldham; -5

  • I disagree. Highlands was clearly in control of that game. Highlands inexplicably kept passing late instead of running the ball/clock out. Led to a late Cooper score. But that is fools gold to think t

    And lose 42-35….

  • After almost a decade of being completely irrelevant in the 5A championship picture, it seems that the classic Highlands aura of automatically winning state is back. Missed it so much! By the way

Been a steady decline since week 4. The last 3 games on the schedule for Highlands are Boone Co. , Conner and Scott. They are low in the RPI.

I see teams still going up and their opponents are terrible.

Fair point. I could be wrong but what I have seen with Highlands, the opponents they have beaten are struggling to win at the moment and 2 of their next 3 are some of the worst RPI teams in 5A.

Well they did drop after that week ? but I am happy to be wrong ?

I see 4 or 5 teams in that 5A RPI top 10 that could win state, not necessarily in RPI order. The others have no shot.

Ratings are just that and it all plays out on the field.  As long as Highlands continues to play good defense they have a real shot at bringing home #24!!

Does South Warren play Madisonville in the 1st round?

I’m surprised Cooper does not have a higher RPI, regardless what their rated they are better than what many know or hear about if you haven’t watched them play.

Cooper’s game could of gone either way vs. Highlands this season.  As for their loss to 6A Ryle, I can’t share anything besides the game could go different in Win/Loss column if they played again.

Watch out for Cooper in the post season, they are better than what their ranking shows.  They have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball as well.  The defense just needs to step up more to match their high powered offense.

I disagree. Highlands was clearly in control of that game. Highlands inexplicably kept passing late instead of running the ball/clock out. Led to a late Cooper score. But that is fools gold to think the final score is any indication that Cooper had a chance. Now, if they meet again it could be a different game, Cooper does have a good team.
