USA Today has St. X top team in Kentucky.

I think just about every publication has St. X as the top team in Kentucky other than maybe one or two that has Frederick Douglass.  I honestly believe the top 6 teams in 6A all have a chance to win it this year.  Most years in preseason, it's just the Big 3, but I don't think that's the case this year.  Frederick Douglass, Bryan Station and Manual will have very solid teams that can compete with those other three.  Based on district matchups this year in the playoffs, RPI is going to play a huge role in how things shake out in the 3rd round.

I hope you are right, more teams in the 6A mix would be refreshing to say the least.

Bryan Station beat Trinity last year and returns 17 starters including whole O-line. I think they will be a contender for sure.

Until Station shows they can hang with FD I can’t buy it. FD has absolutely waxed them the last few years.

I understand what you're saying, but that's what a lot of people said about Bullitt East and Male heading into last year.  I think Bryan Station will be an extremely tough out come playoff time and might just make it to Kroger Field this year.  I believe District 7 & 8 are paired up with each other this year, so should see Station and FD cruise into the 3rd round of the playoffs.  RPI will play a huge role from there.

Trinity and Bryan Station play rematch on August 18th. Good early 6A matchup and whichever team wins that game going to be extra tough team to beat.

Dynasties are great, but so is parity. We need one to appreciate the other. Beatty's run at Trinity is the greatest dynasty we've ever seen, but it's time for some parity. This is shaping up to be one of the best big school seasons in recent memory. That's a great thing for Kentucky high school football.

I agree.  6A looks more open this year than I can ever remember.  Now that may change after a few weeks but on paper it looks competitive at the top.

I agree 100%!  Parity is great and in a lot of ways, I think it gives more credibility to the level of football played.  When 3 schools dominate the way they have the last 30 years, I don't think it speaks well for the level of football played per se.  Honestly, in the last 30 years, can you point to any state where the top class in high school football has been dominated the way Trinity, Male & St. X have in Kentucky?

Because of RPI, I don't expect Station and Douglass to meet in the postseason, I fully expect both to make State semis against one Louisville public, and one Louisville private...

You say the last 2 few years but 2 years ago that game was fairly close. Nowhere close to a blowout.

Thanks Tp94.  I am waiting for @teeroy's countdown:

I think this year I’m just going to release the whole top 25 at once, rip the band aid right off.

It is whatever you feel most comfortable with but I will admit I like countdowns, especially in the off season.

Whatever you decide @teeroy I can't wait to see it.

It’s not that it is the same 3-4 schools in a class, it’s that they’re in the same city.
