Didn't Bellevue and Dayton used to play 2 times a season for a while?   Once as a district game and once, just because.

Yessir. There have been more games in the Bellevue vs. Dayton football series than other single football series in Kentucky. This year's game will be their 149th meeting, if I'm not mistaken.

They haven't played twice every single year, but they certainly did for a long while. The abbreviated 2020 season did away with the non-district game that year, so they only played once district competition came around, and they haven't picked the second game up since.

Hope they get plenty  of kids playing this year.

I agree. Recruit the hall ways every day and get into the elementary school and local parochial school if you can. Go around town shaking hands and kissing babies, and hopefully the administration has your back. Some group of kids have to take on the onus of being "the team" that got the program back on track. It's not the most glamorous thing to take a beating, but as you get older you can take pride in knowing you were apart of a group that changed the attitude and mindset of the program.

Any idea what the numbers are for Bellevue? I have no connection to Bellevue but I have always rooted for them and Dayton. I love the small town football feel and how their communities traditionally back their teams!

They already have a roster up on the KHSAA Scoreboard, actually. 22 players shown. 8 seniors, 4 juniors, 8 sophomores, and 2 freshmen. Tristan Woodyard started at QB last year as a freshman, and Jordan Pendleton was their leading rusher last year, also as a freshman. Landon Corley was their #2 rusher, in addition to being their #1 receiver.

The offense really struggled last year...only 264 offensive snaps in 7 games played, for an average of offensive 38 plays a game. (I was told once that any offense that averages under 45 plays a game is either very efficient, or isn't doing very well.) So here's hoping a little experience adds to their success this season.

On defense they graduated 4 of their top 5 tacklers. The guys listed with a single asterisk were on last year's team for the Tigers, and the guys listed with two asterisks have played for Bellevue previously, but did not play last year.

There are a few more kids joining in recent days and have not been added on the KHSAA roster yet.  Chad Montgomery and his staff have been a real positive for the program and are making huge strides forward in teaching the game and developing interest.  It wasn't an overnight process to get where they were and it won't be an overnight process to get where they want to go, but this group of young men and their extremely committed coaching staff are showing incredible willingness to get it done.

That's good news. Starting the season with only 22 kids would leave just a small margin of error. If they could get up close to 30, that should help get through the season. As you said, it isn't an overnight process, but this year should be about numbers, development, and hopefully some success to build on going forward.

As of last week the Tigers had 28 guys at practice everyday with word that possibly several more transfers maybe coming in the near future. All signs seem to be pointing in a positive direction for the tigers. Was told of 2 good showings at 7on7’s, have heard the kids are responding positively to the coaches. An the coaching staff has been pretty happy with the work those players are putting in. It’s safe to say all parties involved expect to more than just finish a season. The Lynn Camp game is a 6pm on a Saturday 9-9. I am trying to fit it into my schedule.

What is the address to the stadium they play in. I do not see one at the school on Google Maps.
