3 games outside City/County/District are CAL, BG and Henderson - very quality.

I agree, good schedule for Owensboro and thanks for posting it.

The last four years have been very productive for the Red Devils: four straight semifinal appearances, a state runner-up, and nearly 12 wins a season. Some heavy hitters are walking out the door this spring, but there are some exciting pieces returning that should keep Owensboro's program momentum moving forward. A challenging non-district schedule is in place, as well. Look for O to be a factor in 5A once again.

Key Departures

Kenyata Carbon (RB/DB) - 170 carries for 1,420 yards and 24 touchdowns | 201 receiving yards and 1 touchdown | 2 interceptions

Jeremiah Goodwin (LB/P) - 57 tackles | 19 TFL | 12 sacks | 3 forced fumbles

Khalil Rogers (WR/DB) - 41 receptions for 463 yards and 7 touchdowns | 28 tackles | 1 scoop and score

Ethan Pendleton (WR/LB) - 26 receptions for 373 yards and 6 touchdowns | 37 tackles | 1 interception

Kasey Boone (QB) - 119/210 for 1,571 yards and 15 touchdowns with 11 interceptions

Xander Early (LB) - 78 tackles | 6 TFL | 4 sacks

Zachary Clark (DB) - 63 tackles | 6 TFL | 1 interception for a pick-six

Key Returnees

Jak Lindsey (OL) - 6'5, 300 lbs | Offers from UK, Indiana, Miami (OH), and Central Michigan

Deion Winstead (RB/DB) - 50 rushes for 546 yards and 11 touchdowns | 57 tackles | 3 interceptions including a pick-six

Javion Robinson (DB/KR) - 38 tackles | 3 interceptions including a pick-six | 3 kick return touchdowns

Dereon Crowe (LB) - 47 tackles | 2 fumbles recovered including a scoop and score

Evan Hampton (RB) - Scored on 6 of 10 carries as a freshman. Huge upside for this sophomore-to-be.

Owensboro is also scrimmaging Boyle County at Lindsey Wilson.

Owensboro will be good for some time to come.

The Hampton Brothers are really impressive especially the kid that got some chances on kickoff last year as a freshman.  They have all the pieces except for maybe the most spot-lighted.

Looking forward to August!

See you at Old Hickory on the 25th @Brown!

Read where Will Barnes (former HC at Caldwell County) is going to be on staff. This will be a great hire IMO.

His dad (Rest in Peace) coached for Daviess County (in Owensboro) for years before moving on to Caldwell County.  Sounds like he'll be a great addition to staff.

I can't edit the original post but the first scrimmage is against Central Hardin and Mayfield (same day) at Owensboro's Rash Stadium.  They also scrimmage Boyle County at Lindsay Wilson (in Columbia - 20 mins south of Campbellsville) on 8/11.

I wouldn't be surprised if Owensboro starts off like 1-4. Or 2-3 in those first 5 games. Not 100% sure what Daviess County and Graves County have but those games have been tough recently when the Red Devils are on the road. OHS lost a lot. But I believe by the 2nd half of the season their younger kids will have gotten more comfortable with their roles and the Red & Black will be a tough playoff opponent.

Ordell you probably right. The Homer in me believes the Devils have the underclass men talented enough to be in the mix from the start, but they’ll more than likely take some lumps early on. The Boyle scrimmage will be really telling on how our year will start.

Don't think DC or Graves have enough to keep up still. Owensboro offense should be a problem with Hampton, Crowe, Winstead and Kimbrell all being big threats to score.

Graves will be junior dominated. Feel like they will have a good team, not great, but just solid all around. This thread gets me a little excited that we might finally have a shot to knock Owensboro off with it being at Graves.

Graves schedule before Owensboro is Mayfield, Paducah, Caldwell, McEwan TN.

I think at worst Graves rolls into the Owensboro game 2-2 with a 2 game winning streak. That’s worst case scenario in my mind.

If my memory is correct Owensboro doesn't have a big Senior class this year. They're  going to be lead by their JR/Sophomore classes. Talented but young in some key spots.

Stars are aligning for Graves it seems. They should have a chance at the district this year… Would be more aligned if Graves had a Senior lead team but if both are in experienced and it comes down to talent and speed it’s still going to be tough sledding for graves.

@gcbleedblue does Graves have any big names returning on offense? I believe the Devils will struggle on defense early on but there offense should be able to still put up big numbers with who they have returning.

I could be wrong but IMO Owensboro is still the most talented team on Graves schedule

The Devils got a boost from the transfer of quarterback Lake Wilson from Daviess County. He's a senior who served as DC's starter last season. I wouldn't describe him as a superstar, but he should be a huge benefit to Owensboro. They don't have to start from scratch at the most important position on the field.
