I can only speculate but I assume the reports mean the incident itself.

I also see that some of his social media profiles are either being taken down or possibly altered for whatever reasons.

I understand the graphic nature and thinking of the families involved but if the general public never gets the complete story on these mass shootings I don't know what we are ever going to accomplish trying to address them.

Officer Nickolas Wilt, a new officer to the LMPD, ran towards the gunfire today to save lives. He remains in critical condition after being shot in the head.

23yo kid from Floyd Central in Indiana.  Streamed the whole thing from what I've read.  I don't know if they've released if he shot himself or if he was shot by police.  Had a rifle.  I assume it was an AR.  By all accounts a kid that you wouldn't put on the radar.  Until today....

The way I understand the reporting so far he was shot by the police.  Also (according to some reports I have seen) he called a friend and said he was suicidal and was going to kill everyone at the bank.  So, if that all is true, he was definitely on the radar today, the question is what if anything did he reveal to anyone prior to today that would have put him on the radar.  Lots of unanswered questions for sure.

I agree with that but given our current system I don't see a path to marry mental health care with anything external.

I agree mental health care needs to be expanded, improved, easier to access etc. But that doesn’t mean the people who do these acts would take advantage it. And while this always is offered as a suggestion, it never comes with what it would look like, or how we get those people into care. Blaming this on mental illness is easy, but it also places those who are suffering from mental illness in a harsh, evil light. The vast majority of mentally ill people are not capable of and not likely to do something like this.

Unless there has been a change in reporting, everything I have read says he has no history.  How do you prevent that?  If day of is how swiftly we have to react, good luck with that.

The sobering reality that everyone has to face is that there can always be a case (like this one seems to be) where there were no signs before hand. It is literally impossible to prevent those situations. The only thing we can do is put things into place that reduce the risk as much as possible, for every scenario.
