Be sure to contact your local athletic director and volunteer to run the shot clock for girls and boys varsity, JV, and freshman. Oh yeah, we'll need to introduce the shot clock in middle school too. I'm being obnoxious I know.....but staffing will be even more difficult than paying for it. This will also just be one more opportunity for parents and other fans to go nuts lol.

My opinion is that I don’t think it is NEEDED, but that it also wouldn’t harm the game if implemented. You’ve said teams don’t hold the ball 30-40 seconds very often, which only validates my opinion that it wouldn’t harm the game. I’m not sure you know what point you’re arguing.

As someone who's worked the game clock many, many times, I always say it's both the easiest and hardest thing to do, at the same time.  It's super easy - you literally have one job, and that's to flip a toggle to start the clock or to stop it.  A monkey could do it.  It's also super hard - it's very easy to just become engrossed in what's happening on the court and forget to flip the button.  Egg on face, I've done it plenty of times.  Once, had an opposing AAU coach literally want to fight me, he was so convinced I was trying to cheat his team (by not starting the clock when my team inbounded the ball with only a handful of seconds left - reasonable assumption I guess, but it was kind of out in the open.  If I was going to cheat, I'd try to be a little more slick!).

Anyway, point is, I can't imagine trying to manually re-start a shot clock every possession. But then, maybe most folks don't daydream like I apparently do.......

I believe (no I am not sure) that it is just a simple button on a single little controller. I am not 100% sure on that though.

Are we resetting the full length of the clock on every offensive rebound? 

I mean, give me the proposal before I draw conclusions. Not you two in particular, just wanted to give credit to the inspiration. 
 

I went back and looked at MY comments on the two most recent threads on the subject and saw a shift from adamantly opposed, to finding myself almost arguing in favor of it. Either way, unless this is funded by KHSAA/NFHS fully, I will remain opposed. Admittedly, I don’t think it would seriously alter most games a ton.

Wouldn't there be some judgement involved occasionally as high schools do not use replay?  (Sorry, didn't mean to open that can of worms lol.)
