He was making such solid contact that whole at bat I was thinking I would bring in another pitcher.

Current baseball philosophy helped get the USA beat. You put in a pinch runner in the 9th down one run but you don't have him try to steal. A couple pitches later, double play.

I'm not the old man that wants to eliminate celebrations, bat flips, etc. (although I do think some of it is excessive), but I can't wait for the trend to be team first fundamental baseball again.

Amen to this. I assume the switch was made so he could score from first on a double to the gap, but I think he needed to be moving and he wasn't.

I wish they'd do this every other year instead of every 3 years.  What an atmosphere.

Maybe with the current rules, they think they’re already on second base. 

They also had replay and no pitch clock and no one seemed to complain.   But I guess only hardcore baseball fans are watching the WBC.
