FCPS Scheduling

Featured Replies

FCPS Committee voted unanimously to end requirement of each team to schedule one another in football. Looks like a defending champions schedule just opened up... Between this and impending new districts, have to wonder which schools try to improve RPIs via scheduling.

  • No different than how some feel about a lot of teams in Kentucky.

More than likely they (Douglass) will still play Station, PLD and Henry Clay as I think those 3 will be a district together but it will open now 6 games. I personally would like to see them keep Boyle and Scott Co. on the schedule, but I'm pretty sure Scott has already said that if Douglass moved to 6A they were not playing. If both still did play that would give the Broncos at least 4 games to schedule which is a lot better than the 1 they have had the last 4 years.

If I was Douglass I would make sure every middle school football player in Fayette County knew they can either play big boy football at Douglass or play play at most of the other schools.

Best news ever for FCPS teams, especially Douglass.

I think its fair to say most kids know this, but some parents will want the right away PT opportunities afforded at some of the other publics.

Hopefully they all have a choice.

You'd think Douglass' record of getting kids to D1 schools would outweigh immediate playing time.

Right, especially for the middle schools kids with D1 potential.

There feeder ( EJ Hayes) is the only Middle School I’ve seen that cuts kids. I think parents know about D1 Status.

Either you are D1 quality or you're not.  If you are D1 quality, you will get the scholarship and it doesn't matter what school you go to. The better pull for middle school kids is come here if you want a ring.

I think a ring would be icing on the cake.  If you are D1 quality you want to be in a situation like Douglass playing a big time schedule to showcase your talents.

It is a chicken and egg thing to a certain extent. If a team has D1 players they are probably going to win and get to big time games. But here are some of top ranked D1 players in KY:

#3 Cristian Conyer - South Warren

#4 Saadiq Clements - Henderson County

#7 Kaden Moorman - Franklin County

#9 Oreyond Fisher - Great Crossing

#10 Malachi Wood - Madison Central

#12 Jakob Dixon - Pleasure Ridge Park

#14 Jacob Jones - West Jessamine

So half of the top 14 D1 players in KY didn't even make it to the final four and/or played on teams that barely had winning records. One of them played for a 4-7 team. You don't have to play for a top team to get a D1 scholarship if you are a D1 talent.

Who came up with that idiotic rule in the first place?

People in the Central Office downtown who most never played a sport in their life. After thinking about it some more it probably helped Douglass in the long run get some players after the way that Douglass beat all of the other 5 schools if they went into a program that was offered at Douglass.
