The Breathitt County Bobcats make the 2 1/2 hour drive north to Erlanger for a round 3 playoff game against the Lloyd Juggernauts. On paper this looks like an evenly matched game. In years past the Breathitt County schedule has been suspect but this year their strength of schedule is actually slightly better than Lloyd's and the Bobcats have the better wins on their resume.

Breathitt County is led on offense by QB Tyler Bryant who is 6th in 2A averaging 188 yards passing per game. He completes 63% of his passes and has 25 TD passes against 7 INT's. He likely surpassed the 2,000 yards in passing in last night's game. Austin Perry is his top target ranked the #3 receiver in 2A averaging 21.6 yards per catch. Breathitt County is 7th in 2A in scoring, averaging 36 points per game. The Bobcats are 4th in scoring defense in 2A only allowing 14 points per game. 

Lloyd will counter that Breathitt County passing game with one of the best pass defenses in 2A. The Juggs lead 2A with 32 sacks. Avander Abrams has 8 sacks, Amari Riley has 7, TJ Jackson has 6 and KyRon Carter has 4. John Crim has 4 INT's to back up that pressurized front. Lloyd's defense is just behind Breathitt County's giving up 15.1 points per game. In team scoring margin the Bobcats are 5th and the Juggs are 6th. Despite those big stats though, Lloyd's pass defense is 24th in 2A in yards allowed per game. Those numbers indicate to me they attack the QB and take risk which leads to big pass plays for their opponent. This may be the biggest factor to watch for in this game.

The other big factor is can Breathitt County stop the Lloyd rushing attack which I would call, appropriately, a juggernaut. The Juggs are a run first team and they have weapons. Kaiden Zulager is a very hard nosed RB and sophomore QB Isaiah Sebastian is a star in the making. Both are strong runners who will break tackles and have the elusiveness to take it all the way. Lloyd throws the ball enough to keep teams honest and Sebastian is effective when he throws it. 

This game shapes up a an excellent and interesting matchup. How do you see this one going?

I am glad it’s in Erlanger. Bloody Breathitt has been a road block before. 

Should be a fun game, but I’m picking Lloyd. However, it definitely could go the other way. Most disciplined team with the fewest turnovers will take it. 

I like the Cinderella story of Breathitt, what they’ve done after the floods, and it would be cool to see them go to the next round but I think it ends this week. Lloyd by two TDs.

Breathitt used to be a VERY TOUGH place to play at longer ago, don’t know about now but I remember it being a very hard place to win at before.

This may be one of the more interesting games of the weekend. With being in Erlanger, I’ll take Lloyd in a close one.

I don't know much about this year's Breathitt team. I think this is the best Lloyd team we've seen in years, but in my mind it's still Breathitt County as the opponent. If Lloyd comes out and plays a good game, I pick Lloyd by a 14. If not, hold on to your hats.

I think Lloyd has the bigger RPI.

Looking at Breathitt’s schedule, I can’t find what would be considered a good win.

Breathitt's win over Hazard is by far the best win for either team.

Temperature in the 30's for Friday... going to be a cold one on grass. Most of us old timers know what stiff grass and frozen mud feels like. Going to be a good one. I think Lloyd has the better running game, and an O-coordinator who knows how to move the sticks and keep your offense off the field. Defensively they can do enough. Lloyd in a close one 26-17
