I was surprised to learn these two haven't crossed paths since 1999. You'd think it would have happened at least a time or two since.

Station won that game on its way to the school's most recent finals appearance. This year's roster was still several years away from the cradle. Psychologically, I think that's a benefit to the Defenders. They haven't suffered years of torment at the hands of Trinity like so many others.

Station can play fast and loose with the mindset that they're not just there to keep it competitive, they're there to win. That's half the battle right there.

I also think they're physically better equipped to hang with the Rocks than Simon Kenton. Whether or not that's enough, I don't know.

Trinity looks rejuvenated. The arduous path they've navigated is doing its job and the arch rival is vanquished. The Rocks are in a good place. Too good to pick against them.

Station has dipped down to Class 5A some over that time period. They've also had a handful of bad teams over the course of the last two decades. However, I'm with you, would have thought they might have accidentally squared off a time or two since then.

2007-08 they played in Class 5A. They were in a district with Ashland, Johnson Central, Montgomery County, and Woodford County. I thought it was for four years but they were adjusted up to 6A after two years because of increased enrollment.

Trinity’s schedule was very difficult compared to any other team in Kentucky and as a result they compete at a high level the entire game. It wasn’t until week 10 that they played a team that wasn’t a road game in a different state, a top 10 team in that team’s state, or all the above. 
The last few weeks have helped them get healthy.  Station has to keep it close and be ready to compete at a higher level all game than they’ve played all year and force some errors.
Trinity becomes a much different team once they’re up a couple scores.

I think we'll see Trinity move to their own streaming in the next year or two. Now that they offer a larger class, and the students operate the video board and replays. The Toy Bowl this year was amazing. And it was all done by students. Can you imagine? 8th graders watching themselves on instant replay.

The radio guys on 970 are not paid by Trinity, but through the station.

I definitely think there is a real respect for the speed and athleticism of the Defenders and Haskins and Green are two of the best athletes we will see this year. Again, special teams will be big this week as McLaughlin proved to be a weapon last week with the touchbacks (even into a 20mph wind!) and drilling the 51-yarder that was probably good from 60-plus. Punter Carter Schwartz will be big this week too, as I've seen 6 punt returns go to the house by the speedy duo. Cutwright also appears to have excellent speed and an arm worthy of taking the top off of most defenses. 

Dixon and Hocker stand out as very good linebackers who have a great nose for the ball. Safety is where Haskins really shines and it's easy to see why he was a first-team All-State pick in the Courier-Journal. He can cover, come up to hit and his leadership back there is evident. As a whole, they don't bring a lot of pressure and that is because they have a lot of smart kids who can fly to the ball.

The Defenders are giving up less than 10 points per game in their 9 wins and scoring almost 45 points on average in those same games. I think this can be a tight game for a bit as both teams get used to the speed of the game and the cold weather. Facing a fantastic athlete in Chase Crone last week will help the Shamrock defense immensely. There are a lot of valid comparisons to Ballard and Male, although I don't think you can necessarily gameplan for what Haskins is capable of based on those two teams. 

@NLTanker1, feel free to supplement our paychecks as needed! The least you could do is advocate for a raise for us! ? I hope one day we can stream the games in our own format but I am not holding my breath anytime soon.
