I have Philips Hue lighting and use their hub which is just plugged into my router. The lights are a little expensive, but it is easy to use, and has a lot of options. For example, it's set that if I come home when it's dark, the porch light, and entry lights in the house come on so I'm not walking into a dark house. Obviously, I can turn on/off, dim, or change the color of the lighting with my phone. And there are little battery operated switches that you can install (that don't require any wiring) that allows you to control the lights as well. I can also use Alexa to control the lights by voice.

Thanks for the information. I will be looking into this. 

What kind of lunatic leaves drawers open?  What's next?  Front doors left open, car doors left open, pants left open?  The humanity. 

My OCD will not allow such erratic behavior.

Do you what really irritates one of these people?  When the hinges on the drawer are old and the drawer rolls back open after initially being closed.  Yep, that's me.  I waste a ton of time trying to SLOWLY close the drawer and/or shift the items inside the drawer in the hope that it stays closed.

I loathe lights on, cabinets open, drawers left open, and especially, people who leave the dishwasher door down.  I have many other issues around the house that could fill a thread all of its own, but for sure, the basics that I listed in my first sentence all get under my crawl something fierce.

We just finished a total kitchen remodel.  The new “soft close” cabinets are hard to get used to for an old door slammer.

Was a "drawer" closer for a good while. Now, I'm not willing to expend the energy on a number of levels for these to be a thing. Acceptance : Serenity 

I get what you mean though Pops, sometimes a cabinet door slam is necessary, like a bar of Lifebouy soap for the soul.

Ha, it would indeed!!  Fortunately both my kids were blessed with the Math gene, one way more than the other, so most pitfalls are avoided!  ?
