The old adage “that’s why they play the game” remains true. Excited for some good matchups against NKY, hopefully the next 2 weeks.

Nobody is going to match Douglass skill player for skill player or even get close except for maybe Owensboro and it’s still probably not even close but where the game gets closer is in the trenches which is where FD dominated last night. I believe Highlands and Cov Cath will have better line of scrimmage play which will help them stay in the game. FD is good but the ball Carriers weren’t even getting touched until like 5 yards down the field against Boyle… The game plan against FD has to be getting an early lead and forcing them through the air .

I have a lot of respect for Douglass and said throughout the year this is there year, but 5A is no easy road either.

FD will run clock first four rounds, possibly the fifth as well.

At the same time, if Highlands doesn't realize they got their hands full as well come 2nd round with you guys, that's gonna be a rude awakening!

Interesting recent matchup history 

2012 - 

Birds beat the Cards 60-37 at Highlands (Zach Harris was unreal in this game, rushed for over 300 yards)

2016 -

Cards beat Birds 42-33 at Highlands (SC 475 rushing yards) 

 

2017 - Cards beat birds 71-20 at home and rushed for 423

 

2018- Cards beat Birds 28-7 at Highlands, the game was called at half (lightning)

 

But…. Cards must handle Cooper first. Their QB can sling it around and their RB looked somewhat explosive to me when I watched them.

The Cards have pretty much owned the Birds.

I agree on Cooper, if they play well they are pretty good.
