January 9, 200719 yr Florida dominated this game! I have never seen a #1 ranked team look so inept. I feel that the Gators were more responsible for this. Speed, speed, everywhere. UK had a better showing than this against Florida. I guess the Cats are not so bad after all. What happened to all the talk about OSU "seeing speed like that every day in practice?" That must be one heck of a scout team, its a shame Tressel didn't put them in, might have been a better game.
January 9, 200719 yr The kicker's facemask was not dirty in any way shape or form. The guy was past him on his way to the house and he had 2 options. Grab the facemask, or let him score. If I'm his coach I'm high fiving him on the sideline, it's the other 10 guys who didn't make a play that should own up to the 15 yarder. They rushed 3 because Florida continuosly threw the ball 5 and 10 yards down field. When they blitzed he either exposed it, or brought a reciever in to help pick it up, or he rolled away from the pressure. If anything I thought tOSU should have blitzed more and played man coverage instead of playing zones ALL NIGHT LONG. With 4 or 5 wide there are TONS of holes especially short in the zone. Florida's Line and WR's blocked all night long. 91 and 94 beat the tOSU tackles like they were Vanderbilt.
January 9, 200719 yr The extra long lay-off is something that the Big 10 has visited upon itself. The schools can change it if they want. .... schedule later games...have a league playoff. I must admit that I thought OSU would win handily, but I don't think it was so much the physical ability of UF as much as it was the intangibles/coaching that caused the embarrassment. I thought it was odd that there were no really long plays from scrimmage ......what with all the playmakers in the game. Maybe the defensive playmakers prevented them from happening. Pregame, Jimmy Johnson thought there would be some big plays. What was the longest play from scrimmage? OSU did a very poor job of adjusting to UF's offense. How many dink 3rd down passes were completed for first downs?

They did much better than OSU. :flame:

How many dink 3rd down passes were completed for first downs? They couldn't block the front 4 and the other 7 were basically in pass coverage. That's not on the coaches. Defensively they should have tried some other things, but the offense was outmatched by the Gator D. Most of those 3rd down passes were on 3rd and 3 or 3rd and 4. Florida did a very good job not having long 3rd down conversions.
January 9, 200719 yr All I have to say about the game is that it was the most beautiful massacre I've ever seen! Side note...I'd like to see the "Best Darn Band in the Land" spell Massachusetts on the field. Then I'd be impressed.

Talent, performance, execution, speed, game plan, coaching, etc...Florida's performance left no doubt and no room for excuses, IMO. Lay-off, Ted Ginn, or whatever...had the game been more competitive, I could see it, but with the way it played out, I don't think so.

That must be one heck of a scout team, its a shame Tressel didn't put them in, might have been a better game. They don't see speed like that every day in practice. Florida has it everywhere, just like they always have. The SEC is a speed Conference.
January 9, 200719 yr This Florida team was better against OSU than they played all year. Especially in two catagories. Fewer penalities and NO turnovers.
January 9, 200719 yr Heres a quote I found interesting. "Honestly, we've played a lot better teams than them," Florida defensive end Jarvis Moss said. "I could name four or five teams in the SEC that could probably compete with them and play the same type of game we did against them." I guess it kind of puts the game into perspective. I didnt think Ohio State played bad, I think Florida is just good. But who knows Im just a mere Kentucky Fan, Yoter
January 9, 200719 yr Pressure Leak and he threw out of bounds or in the stands. I question why OSU did not apply more pressure? Pressure Smith and he takes 15 yard sack. Leak is the better decision making QB IMO.

January 9, 200719 yr It's because the Buckeyes are so adamant about being THE Ohio State University. But maybe you mean tO$U? I think it's pretty obvious. I prefer my new nickname for them- check out the final BGP poll, and read my post. Wow!! That one sure is original.
January 9, 200719 yr Ohio Sate should have had some plumbers playing because apparently no one else could stop the Leak.
