We've still got eleven teams that haven't tasted defeat, with CAL being the most likely to keep their "0" intact through season's end. Frederick Douglass is our 5A favorite, but they can't and shouldn't overlook Boyle County next week.

Southwestern's unbeaten status is the one most in jeopardy this week, with rival Pulaski County coming up on Friday.

There's always a few usual suspects or bluebloods undefeated this time of year, but we've got some new faces in the crowd this season.

Among Warren East, Union County, Mason County, and Metcalfe County, who has the most staying power?

A lot of it boils down to how the RPI shakes out and how that shapes the different playoff paths. I like Union to at least post an unbeaten regular season, but their early round playoff games could be very tricky. The other three still have regular season hurdles to clear that could trip them up. The color green could have Metcalfe and Mason feeling blue, with Metcalfe facing ranked Green County this week and Mason tackling an upstart - and also ranked - Greenup County to close out its regular season next week. And Warren East still has 6A Daviess County to contend with.

For historical reference, the last time each of those four teams went undefeated in the regular season was:

• Union County - 1972
• Metcalfe County - 2003
• Warren East - 2012
• Mason County - 2013

Woodford County went undefeated last season, the first undefeated regular season for the Yellowjackets since 1980.

I like this outside of the placement for Woodford. This is their first true test of the season. For whatever reason, people seem to use SK as a litmus test. I can only assume it was off your impression of how they matched up against Beechwood. I would at least have them second or third depending on how strongly you feel about East vs Daviess.

That being said, it wouldn't surprise me to see all of the undefeated teams win.
